There are many days when the chore of cooking can seem unsermountable....with the hectic lives that we lead today....
I frequently utilize my crock pot and allow my main dish to simmer all day while I am busy doing other things...then a couple of side dishes and a masterpiece of culanary delight is served to my family....well, it sounds good anyway...LOL
I wandered who else does this? Do you have lots of good recipes for cooking in the crock pot or slow cooker?
I think that I have about 30 different recipes that I make in the crock pot....it makes meat so tender that it will just fall apart...ummmm, getting hungry writing this post as the smell of round steak smothered in cream of mushroom fills the air of my home....adding some fried potatoes, green peas and a salad and dinner is ready....it is just now almost 2 p.m. here and supper is nearly done...LOL

I use the crock pot alot in the wintertime for cooking roasts, stews and chili. Not too long ago I made catalina chicken in the crock pot. It was pretty good! I found the recipe on cook.com.

I love using my crockpot. It is an important appliance in my home. And you can't get meat anymore tender and juicy than by cooking it in the crockpot.

We use it more often in the winter, when we like to come home to a hot meal. A hot meal in the summer can be a bit too much heat for us.

The crockpot was designed to cook at relatively low temperatures and correspondingly longer cooking times. Many recipes call for the ingredients to be put into the cooker with little preparation. The cooker can then be left unattended, making crockpot cooking a very convenient cooking method for those who are busy or have to go off to work. For years, the crockpot has this slogan “cooks all day while the cook’s away”.
Within our household, we've had a slow cooker for years. We've embraced crockpot cooking for as long as we have had to do our own cooking. But we cook the crockpot way not because we have no time, but because this is very suitable for stews. We will make stewed chicken, braised pork and braised mushrooms, and these will turn out very tender and succulent. It is something we can't really achieve cooking directly over a gas oven. We also do a variety of soups sometimes. Soups cooked slowly over 5 or 6 hours turn out to be wonderfully good and delicious. We have taught our maid to use the crockpot, and now she can make beautiful stews and soups on her own that we get to enjoy for dinner.

I LOVE my crockpot! Especially now that I'm trying to cut out processed foods and such. As busy as I am, without a crockpot I would only have time for convenience foods. But instead, I can spend 5 minutes in the morning filling it up and know that no matter what happens that day I will have a healthy, well balanced MEAL for dinner.
