Is there any age limit to work in Call Centers ?

My friend is 39 yrs old and he went to some job consultants in Hyderabad for Jr. Level job in Call centers, after taking his resume they inform him that his age is problem and if anyone company willing to take him they will inform him.
So, Is there any age limit to work in Call Centers ?

As far as i know, there is no age limit. We have agents who were old enough to be our gandfathers. As long as you have what it takes to work in a call center, then its fine.

I am not in India, but I doubt there is an age limit on that type of job anywhere. I worked in an inbound call center for a phone company once and there were many employees over the age of 40. Here in the US, employers cannot cay that they will not hire you due to age because it is discrimination. Maybe they feel like since he is 39 and a call center is not a career and normally does not pay that well, that he will only be with them for a short period of time and then move on to something much better.
