Chores around the house for Children at what age?

What age do you suggest chores for your children to do?
What chores do your kids do at home and how much? What rewards are given to your kids for doing chores? My husband says i am too hard on the kids and i demand too much. What are your experiences with this and how do you handle such chores around the house?

I have my kids clean up after themselves and my neighbor has his step daughter practically a slave. She does way too much around their house. My kids help me out around the house by cleaning up after themselves, helping me with small chores like the trash, and usually whoever cooks dinner the other cleans up. Needless to say my daughter wants to do all th cooking. LOL
