This was a wierd day. I was cleaning out my cat barn, and kennels, like I do, every Saturday, and I was in there, and it was storming really bad, and I actually was scared, but it was raining so hard, that I didn't want to run out in the major downpour, so I kept working. Gizmo, my cocker spaniel was in there with me, and all of a sudden, it sounded like something heavy was hitting the roof, and I told Gizzy that we better take our chances, and get out. Just as we ran out the door, the building blew off. My husband has been building them a new building, and it's almost done, and it's a good thing, becaue that one is ruined. It was one of those metal sheds that you buy at Lowes. We were gonna use it for storage after I moved all the cat stuff to the new one. Now, I don't think that's gonna happen. lol Thank God, none of the cats were in there at the time. So how was your day?

Wow, you must be doing rescues too!
Nope, just hot & Texas around here - could be hotter so I'm not going to complain too much! Took the babies to adoption, but couldn't stay - had to wait for the applaince repair man.
but the kitchen looks pretty good because the newer roomie mopped the front part since I did the cat boxs yesterday - since I was off anyway.

Yep, got 30 cats. Most were strays. I have them all fixed, but 3 old ones, that were already mine, and they don't go out, anyway. And the last 3 that I took in, and they are scheduled in September.

After that, I was afraid my house wouldn't have a roof on it. There was super strong winds, hail, and the whole bit. I was really scared.

Oh my Brenda! I've never made a secret of the fact tha I am terrified of thunder and lightening - the very thought of being in your position scares the hell out of me! Thank goodness you and all your pets are safe! As for me - no storms I'm glad to say - it's a nice, warm (but not too hot), balmy English Summer's day here, and as this is a Public Holiday weekend, and no one has to work - that makes it even nicer!

I'm so glad you and your cats were not injured. It has been stormy the past couple days here, but I've never been caught out in it, whether it be in a car, or just standing outside.
My day is OK. I had to go to the ER yesterday because of my jaw, and the pain is no better. I can't sleep despite the medicine, but I'm not awake enough to make a bunch of sense. In fact, I hope I don't look back at this response and find it incoherent. If it is, I'm sorry! : )

Sounds as if you have good instincts. When I started reading your story i was thinking...hmmm...heavy rains, no lightning ....she is not going to melt. Thank god you listened to your heart! I love storms but I have to admit it is bad enough here right now that when I got home from work tonite, I did hesitate before running from my car to my apt. which is unusual.

You know, I don't usually mind storms all that much. This time, though, it just started to seem really scary. I don't know what the sound of something hitting on the top of the building was, but it sounded like someone hitting it with their fist hard, twice. Then is when I decided to get out, and not a minute too soon. My husband was looking out the door of our house, trying to see what I was doing, and he said, almost the second that me and Gizzy stepped out, the building just picked up and toppled. The funny thing is, I didn't know the building blew away, until he told me. lol I was too busy trying to get out of the rain, and I didn't look back.

I live in Ohio. We had the bad storm, the electric went off for about 2 and a half hours, and now, things have calmed down.

I am thankful that my lazy husband, is almost done with the new barn, otherwise I may have had all 30 cats in my house. lol They still have the covered fence that was attached to the old barn, so, they should be okay as far as shelter. They have some dog houses in it, and they can go in the new barn, it just needs some minor stuff done to it. It's enclosed and intact. It's really nice. It's like a small house, 18 X 20, I think. It should be done tomorrow. If there had been any in there, at the time and got hurt, I would be so upset.

well thank god you are fine and gizmo.you had very good instincts, well they always say to go with your gut feeling.im glad everything is fine.i went to my sisters to have a barbeque, and my kids went in the baby pool.it was so hot and humid though,it was like 100 degrees and very sticky.but it was worth it,i rather see my little cherubs enjoy themselves, while i sweat my buns off.they loved it,which puts a smile on my face.

I wasn't all that afraid of storms, until today. After that happened, I will be shaking in my boots, the next time.
