To be honest I've never been a big sports fan to begin with though I do like to watch soccer. There are some sports though that I think are so incredibly boring and dull to watch. My two top winners are tennis and golf. I have to admit tennis is a hard game to play as I did used to play it myself, but like who the heck wants to get over-heated in the blazing sun, swatting a ball around...LOL...As for golf...well yeah, nice to be outdoors just puttering that little ball..but to watch...zzzzz.
So what sports do you think are boring to watch or just can't get enthused over?
WARNING: Let's be nice here....no bashing...what sport you may think as boring someone else might love..so be nice!!

Ok, I'm not a sports fan. The closest that I get to sports, is an occasional game of horse basketball, or badminton, softball, or volleyball with my kids and grandkids. ANd to be perfectly honest, as much as I like to play, I get worn out really fast. So, as far as watching it, no way. However, the ultimate sports torture for me, would have to be golf. That is as exciting to me, as watching a pot of beans cook.

All sports are boring to watch, most are boring to play if taken seriously and not just for fun. Golf is a good walk spoiled and having worked on a Golf course I find Golfers in general to be obnoxious.

I'm glad you put the warning. Some people take things to heart, even if it is sports. : ) The sports I cannot watch because it bores me to tears are golf, nascar, soccer, and lacrosse. Oh, and bowling. I'll go bowl, but I don't want to watch it.

I guess I've never been a fan of baseball because I came from a background of baseball nutcases--LOL. I mean the world stopped when the game was on TV and my folks would watch..as a kid I just couldn't see what all the fuss was about..now remember I was a kid..so it used to tick me off that here I am a kid, and I wanted to watch my favorite cartoon, but oh, no,...if a game was on that was it--so a little resentment on my part--heehee. I used to bowl but I'd never want to watch it either--hockey I never used to mind watching---

For me, it would be golf, tennis, and baseball. I watch my little boy play baseball, and I got excited, but as far as watching the big guys, I fall asleep all the time. If I see tennis and golf, I turn the channels away.
I love watching soccer and basketball. Probably because my kids play these sports, so I enjoy watching it more.

Pye,
there is absolutely nothing wrong with not liking to watch baseball. It's fun if you are in the stadium, but if I'm not at the game I'd rather listen to it on the radio than watch it on television. Baseball on television is like hitting the snooze alarm...it means I'm going to sleep:)

I used to be a huge baseball fan now I just can't stand watching it. I get bored pretty easily. haha I don't know if this is really considered a sport but ice-skating is on my top list. I like to watch speed skating but just the general couples or singles skating is a big NO on my list.

I would have to say that golf is the most boring sport to watch. i agree that tennis is boring as well. I prefer playing sports than watching. It is more enjoyable playing and being active than watching. If I watch a sport, it is more enjoyable to watch a fast paced game.

I think it depends on the individual games or matches. Anything (sport) can be thrilling or boring, depending on the action, meaning and suspense. So many individual games and contests are exceptionally boring because their outcomes mean so little. And the particuler event is too one sided and competition is non-existent. And perception is also important. For some, everything is exciting in the sports world and for others nothing.

To be honest, I think golf is boring. I don't have reason for it but I don't have any interest about golf. Actually, I ever try to hold the golf stick - and try to hit something else with it, so heavy. Watching other people playing golf is not interesting, but playing golf is even more interesting.
Actually, golf is a boring game when I watch other people playing, but when I play, I can feel the other way around. It's not as boring as I watch. However, I don't feel the same when watching football match. I feel interested to watch other people playing, but i don't feel good playing the game. Yeah, we have to consider this game from two different point - player and non-player. So, basically, whether the game is boring or not - it depends.

Just about all sports are boring for me to watch - sometimes in person its different. Even the idea of Golf makes me yawn. That's said - I love watching martial arts tournaments -I've only been to one live but I enjoyed it.
For me, sports are walking and hiking and swimming!

To be honest, I think most sports are boring, unless one of my kids is playing.
I used to watch football sometimes. I went to a few basketball games and enjoyed those. I think most sports are naturally more fun to watch live than on television. I can't stay interested in anything on TV.
I'd rather be interacting with people than watching any sport.

LOL - well as I wrote in another thread of yours, tennis is my passion - well apart from my beloved cats I guess! I used to play a lot, - now I prefer just to watch - and I am addicted to every televised tennis match and live webcams of matches on the Internet - as well as going to Wimbledon, the French Open and many other live tournamnts. Next week I will be propping my eyes open watching the televised coverage of the US Open from New York, - so tennis isn't boring for everyone! But golf - oh my - like watching paint dry! I also loathe cricket - though I know you probably don't get much of that in the States. We get it a lot here, and honestly - just standing around in a field all day hitting a ball with a wooden bat and shouting "howzat" - ugh!!!

I think that is what inspired me to do this discussion, since the US Opens is coming up...hehe..and I'm right here in NYC too
Yes, golf is like watching paint dry..LOL...Nope I think cricket is a typically British game so we don't have that here...gee...maybe a good thing?? Hehe

I personally think all sports are pretty boring to watch (please don't boo me people :P). It's one thing for people to play sports for exercise, have fun, and learn about teamwork, but I'm not one to go watch a sport on the sidelines (whether it's on TV or in person).

Not too much of a sports fan here either. But I do enjoy watching American Football... I like playing baseball but to watch 9 innings makes me want to snooze. Also Golf, Tennis and whoever thought of televising Bowling??? Talk about a snooze fest. I can't watch soccer because of the annoying GOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL guy. Something with the voice drives me batty. LOL don't hurt me.. hehe

I do not like watching golf; I don't know what is in that game which drags rich audience. Among indoor games I don't like to watch chess, though I love playing it.
