Another weekend, another fixture for the Gunners. This week it was Man City who came down to the Emirates, and with their 1-0 victory over dity rivals Man Utd last weekend they came into the much full off positivity and Arsenal knew this was not going to be an easy match.
Teams:
Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Silva, Toure, Cliche, Hleb, Fabregas, Flamini, Rosicky, Adebayor, Van Persie
Subs: Fabianski, Denilson, Song Billong, Eduardo, Bendtner
Man City: Schmeichel, Corluka, Dunne, Richards, Garrido, Ireland, Hamann, Johnson, Petrov, Elano, Mpenza
Subs: Hart, Ball, Onuoha,Geovanni, Bianchi
Arsenal centra back Senderos picked up an injury in pre-match training so Gilberto Silva was placed in the central defensive role.
Early on in the match Sagna collided with Almunia and was forced to be substituted in result of the injury, and was replaced by Denilson.
Arsenal's back 4 were looking fragile and Man City managed to penetrate them quite easily and created a few half chances early on in the 1st half. Arsenal regianed composure and started to get on top of things and were the better team going into the 2nd half with the score locked at 0-0.
In the 2nd half both teams came close, with Man City threatening to score and were just inches away form taking the lead after Petrov fired just wide.
Arsenal were given the golden oppurtunity to take the lead when Hleb was fouled inside the penalty box by Richards.
Van Persie failed to convert the spot-kick and it looked like things were not going to go Arsenal's way.
Man City keeper Schmeichel then made another couple of good saves to deny Van Persie & Fabregas, frustrating the Arsenal attack.
Then with 10minutes to go Arsenal finnaly managed to break the Man City resistance,
after Hleb set up Fabregas, who shot past Schmeichel and put the ball into the back of the net.
With Arsenal side relieved they started to play the style of football we all love and enjoy watching but keeper Schmeichel was equally as good.
In the final minutes, Schmeichel joined the Man City attack for a corner and even forced a save from Almunia.
In the end Arsenal were triumphant and managed to gain 3 vital points. Man city showed why they are placed high in the Premiership ths far after a good display by them.
With Arsenal & Liverpool who also won their match today, playing so well pressure is deffinitely on for Man Utd & Chelsea

The gunners did us proud and I must say I was very worried about the fixture-Manchester city started so we this season and they simply have no kid gloves in their play plans-I wanted to give up after the missed penalty, but thank God we made it!

The performance from Arsenal was too good. But, they continue to be so wasteful in front of the goal. I just hope they go and get some one like Anelka who can put in some of these chances into the net!!
Fabregas was fantastic in the whole game and deserved the goal. It was fun to see that most of the game was played in the Man City half. Also Almunia was looking more comfortable and less tense than Lehmann as in the past two matches.
Let's hope that Liverpool and Arsenal cut the chase close this time around.
Cheers!
