Do you think it's better to give bad news or receive it?

Personally I don't like receiving bad news. And, I've received enough bad news in my lifetime and am pretty much sick of it! If I had to choose one, I'd say that I would rather deliver bad news than receive it.
I don't like the idea of giving someone bad news, but I think I could deal with consoling them, rather than having to be consoled. I could give someone a hug if they needed it after delivering the bad news. So, how about you? Would it be better to give bad news or receive it?

For now I would really choose to give bad news instead of receiving them. I am just getting sick of everything these days and I can't take anymore stress/ bad news, otherwise, I should be going to the mental hospital *laughs*. I am not that emotional about giving bad news and that should be better for me.

It's as if you were reading my mind! I feel exactly the same way about getting even one more ounce of bad news. I just don't need it! Between this whole drama with our last car breaking down and then the new (actually old, 1982) truck dying on us and having to be repaired at great expense, I am not ready for more bad news.

Sorry to hear that your cars broke down. Right everything is totally against my wishes these days and not one tiny thing is going in line with my wish. It's weird. I guess life will get better. August has never been my favourite month.

Neither is pleasant of course but I prefer to give than to receive. At least I have time to adjust to the situation a bit before I have to give someone bad news. If I'm getting it, no matter what it's going to be a shock.
I don't mind consoling others if need be. But I don't like to be consoled. If I've just gotten bad news I want everyone to go away and leave me alone for a while, a hug or a pat on the arm just makes me feel worse.

Most certainly- giving bad news- that might sound mean- but I too would rather console the person- instead of them consoling me- I think I’m a great listener and a great friend- so I would be a great person to lean on my shoulder-

The thought of recieving or giving bad news are both equally hard to do but if I had to choose one I would prefer to have to deliver the bad news only because this bad news could be something that could change a person's life forever and as much as I would hate to have to deliever it , I would rather it not be me having to recieve the bad news .
I once had to tell my best friend that her sixteen year old son had drowned . I hope to never have to do this in my lifetime again but as hard as it was I will always be forever grateful when I look at my children that they are still here for me to hold and tell them how much I love them every day !!

its better to receive :)
the way i look at it its more like doing something :) i really dont ask anything in return :) im happy doing something im really happy for it. Some people want to do something because they expect something in return for them

Both receiving bad news and giving bad news is hard. but when receiving bad you dont have control over.when your giving it could be hard because your the one telling it.

Bad news is bad news, whether you are giving it or receiving it. It never changes the fact that it is bad news.

Obviously its better to give bad news than to receive it because we are not at the receiving end to feel bad about it. But even while we deliver bad news, human mind goes through some comfortablenesses and feel a little bad that we have to deliver such a news. But it is way better than receiving it.

I'd give bad news simply because I am horrible with compliments and such. Also, I would be able to console the other person if it was that bad of news.

I hate to give bad news. I think that getting it is even worse. I am better at receiving it that I am giving it though.
