What would you save if your house was burning down......

..... and you could only take one item? And of course, this pre-supposes that all your family members and pets are already safe and well:-)) And yes I am sure this topic has been done before on myLot, but it's a laxy, sunny Sunday evening on a Public Holiday weekend, and I truly don't want to think of anything difficult or "heavy" - so I was wondering what everyone's most treasured items are? Would it be old photos perhaps, - or your wedding dress? Or one of your childrens' first toys or items of clothing. For me, it would probably be my beloved teddy-bear Arkasha, who was given to me the day I was born and has been in my possession all my life. I can't imagine life without him (old and moth-eaten as he is!), and I couldn't bear the thought of him burning:-(( So how about you?

Hush hush hush!! I've already been through 5 fires in my lifetime and don't even want to go there! lol Seriously though, yes the number isn't a typo, 5 fires and almost a 6th but I was able to put it out in time. A truck fire in which my boyfriend was badly burned, a camper fire, and three house fires - one of which my fiance was killed in. So nope no answer from me! lol

I have had my home burn down..Adn we lost just about everything in it! We wasn't home at the time it burnt we was ata church picnic...I got the call there that my home was on fire..It was the worse feeling ever...But if we was home to get things out of the house first of all it would be my kids, then the cat and dog,,but presonal itams would be the pictures that we lost..Most of them we can't replace at all...

I would actually take my Wall Hanging Dolphin clock as my Daughter bought me that and she was not earning a lot then, it was very expensive to so I treasure that very much specially because she bought it just because she knows how much I love Dolphins and she knew I would like it very much so that is what I would grab

You're welcome - you deserved it:-)) And sorry about the lamp. You would love my big glass dolphin - I bought him when we were on holiday in Prague a few years ago, and carried him back the whole way because I wouldn't trust him not to get broken in my luggage. He is very beautiful - and lives VERY high up on a shelf where (hopefully) the cats can't get to him to knock him off!

After the family and Buster are safe I would try to save all the family phots and photo albums I have. There's a lot too. I would be lost without some of the precious photos of the kids, their friends, the family members, and especially the grandkids. Heartbreaking to think of this type of loss in actuality. Thanks and have a great day/evening.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I wouldn't know what to take. It would p[robably just be my handbag and wallet. Or my laptop. I would hate to lose any of my stuff, some of it is valuable, some sentimental, some is junk, but I love it all. It's scary to think about even....shudder.

Ok, then, as long as my family and pets are safe. Well, then, it would probably be my purse. Truly, knowing me, I'd probably try to fill my arms as full as I could get them, but if it could only be 1 item, then my purse, for sure. It contains, pretty much of everything, excluding, the kitchen sink, anyway. lol

Well I guess most of us women do carry everything important in our handbags! Must admit I was confused by your comment at first, because in England a purse is literally just a small thing for carrying money and credit cards (maybe you call it a wallet?), and I was thinking how much can she get in there!? LOL! And then I realised it was another example of USA and England using different words for the same thing - and I definately carry everything (including the kitchen sink) in my handbag (purse!). Thanks for your answer.

I would definately save some of the 'baby' momentoes of my little girl - like her first curl, tiny clothes etc. And I'd try and grab her soft toy monkeys as well which she adores!!! Luckily most of our photos are in digital form, and all sorts of relations all around the world have copies of them, so I would'nt need to save them lol!
Oh yes, I'd also try and save the baby blankets that my Mom made for my little girl.

I would have to grab my photo boxes. I can't imagine not having those wonderful pictures to look back on and to pass on for historical sake! I know that I should be more practical and get the box that houses all the important documents, but my heart would win, I just know it!

Only one item?--LOL Well of course my kitties would be safe and sound, but as far as a material possession(s) For me it couldn't be just one thing...First it would be my photo collection of slides and black and white negatives--they are literally my life's work...and my computer!! I waited a long time to get one of my own...now you'd think I would only take my computer, but since I don't have all my slide images scanned and digitized yet (only have 21,049 slides--LOL) I haven't gotten around to scanning the majority of them so they aren't stored in my computer yet..

Hi Rosie,
I think that after my cats and partner are already safe and sound I will take my hand bag and my camera, but my heart will break to leave my opal gems, jewelry and minerals, so if at all possible will try to take these too.
And I hope most of all that such a thing NEVER occurs in our life, nor in yours ;)

Hello rosie_123,Thanks for your post.I save everything that I love or important for me online with monthly subcription
basis,so I have nothing to save.I believe life be of humanbeings or our pets are much more precious than any object on earth,so if ever my house/or others house I am living would catch on fire ,I will try to save mylife aswell as others lives in that house .

If my house was burning down, I think I would save all of my family's important documents, like the birth certificates, passports, all the educational certificates, etc. To make it easier, I'd better put all these important documents into a big envelope so that I will not waste time hunting for them.
