What is Goth to you?

Just out of curiosity, what does "goth" mean to you? What picture or idea do you get in your head when you hear the word "goth"? Does anyone know where the name actually derived from or the history?

You will see from my username that I am a recycled goth. Now in my fifties, I was a goth from way back when it first started in London in the late seventies. The whole genre came with the music and the fashions. I still wear my long black velvet dresses and listen to Sisters of Mercy
