When i was young i was thought by my parents to pray before going to bed, then until now i made it as a habit because i can't sleep if i know i didn't pray yet. I feel more comfortable and safe if i pray before i sleep and i don't need to worry about nightmares! well, i hope everyone makes it as a habit too before they go to sleep at night.

Yes I do pray before and when I wake up in the morning to thank God for another chance to see my family and the world I'm within. It's a good habit to have a closer relationship with God. God Bless!!

i am not disciplined enough coz sometimes when i am too tired to just knock off without praying. But i will pray in the morning before going to work. I agree that this should be cultivated since young.

I also was taught when I was a child to pray before going to sleep. Even if it is a very short prayer because I am real tired I pray. Sometimes I even fall to sleep saying my prayer to God. I also say a prayer when I first wake up in the morning. So I start and finish the day with God on my mind.

I try my best to pray each night before I sleep. I will have to be honest and say that on some nights, I am so tired that I lay down and forget and/or fall asleep too fast. Bedtime is not the only time during the day that I pray, so I try not to feel too badly if I forget at bedtime.

This is a great post. I also pray every night before I sleep. My parents taught me to do this. I think it is a good thing to do, to be thankful for what we have and thankful for everything we have been given. It is the best thing to do before you go to sleep.

yes, I do make it a habit to pray before going to bed, I think it is a very important thing to do - if nothing else at least pray that your guardian angel keep watch over you, and also examine your conscience and make an act of contrition.
we also say morning prayers when we wake up - as we get dressed - and as we begin our day.
always to include the prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel.

Hi claire03! I have been praying before I go to bed since I learned how to talk. It was my mother who taught me my first prayer, she told me to thank God and say, Sorry to God and ask God to Bless me..those were my early prayers and of course, we get more sophisticated in praying to Him. Haha.. Take care and have a nice day!

Yes, my parents too have instilled this good habit of just closing your eyes and thanking God for the day,and praying in general for whatever hes done for us, to bless our family and peope around us, to make us a better person etc. An this i have instilled in my kids too, and we all pray together now at night before going to bed.
I think when things like this are instilled into you right from the start, when you are young, by the time you are older, it becomes a habit, and now we follow it daily, without break, no matter how late we maybe sleeping or no matter what thoughts or what time it maybe. I think what matters more is that we believe in it, we should truly feel the need to pray and thank the lord and thank him sincerely, then we would thank him always.
I feel that thanking the lord is something each one of us must do, of course we do so in the mornings, but before going to bed, is different, as thats kind of an informal communication we have with him, and talk to him more like a friend, and ask him to bless and give us pleasant dreams too.
Similarly my kids, have been taught to always pray before going ot bed, and that it gives them strength to keep all evil thoughts away as well, so that whenever bad dreams come to their minds, they say their small little prayer, and feel better and comforted and sleep well at night too.

Praying is making your mind peaceful and your brain relaxed. When I was young, I didn't pray if I didn't know. I pray every day before sleeping. If I can't sleep, I pray and then repeat 2-3 words, after that sleep completely.

Maybe not exactly praying, but I do tend to have this one sided conversations with God often at night before going to sleep.
Maybe this can be considered praying or not, but it's my way and it helps me to sleep each night, so whatever it's called I find it is positive.

It seems like I always find myself talking to God...and certainly before I fall asleep is one of those times when I find myself praying. I also try and pray first thing in the morning because it seems to set the pace for my day.

I usually sleep around 1 am, sometimes 2 am. Usually I watch TV or read the papers before I retire to bed. For as long as I can remember, I never go to bed at 10 or 11 pm, and I wonder why some people tuck to bed so early. To me, sleeping early is like wasting the night away.
