How long do you leave the refrigerator open when looking for food?

Most times when I open up the refrigerator, I know what I'm looking for, so I don't have to keep the door open too long, before I find it. There are other reasons that I like to keep the door open for the shortest amount of time possible, mostly cause I'm worried about one of my cats jumping in to find something. My cats are weird that way.
So, how long do you keep your refrigerator door open when looking for food? Do you know what you are looking for before you open the door?

Hi Beautyqueen, funny question you ask here ;) And yes, sometimes I know exactly what I am looking for, and at other times I don't, and than I pick something up and place it on the table to cut myself a piece of cheese or so, keeping the fridge door open for a minute or two, but not longer than that. My cats do not ever jump in it, they do so on the table - and this drives me mad ;)

My big male cat does crazy stuff like that all the time, especially when he doesn't get exactly what he wants the minute he demands it.

It will be open as long as it takes me to find out and get the required food stuff out of it. The moment i take out the needed food stuff, it won't be open anymore. And yes, i will be knowing what to search for in the fridge, i will even be knowing the exact location. so, its hardly a minute my fridge will be open.

I close my refrigerator door as soon as possible. Mostly because I was raised that way. My mom was always yelling "don't stand there with the frige door open". So now it is habit. I hurry and get what I need and close the door. And also my 3 yr old son likes to come and grab things out the refrigerator too. So most of the time I hurry and get what I need so he won't see me.

I try to get whatever I need to get really quick. Especially if my son is up running around. He likes to try to help himself to his own food. :)
Also, sometimes my dogs will try to stick their noses in there really fast. They know they get in trouble, but apparently it's just too tempting for them.
I try to know exactly what I'm going for when I get in the fridge. Sometimes i have so much stuff in there that it takes me a little while, though! That usually means that I have to clean out the fridge the next day before my son gets up, and while my dogs are both closed into a different room. :)

I don't keep my refrigerator door open to long. I usally know what I am getting out of it before I open it most of the time. Unless I am looking in the freezer for what I want to take out to defrost for dinner.

It all depends on if I know what I’m going in for- If I know- I’m quick- If I’m hungry and looking for something good to eat- I may keep it open longer- Just depends- I get the lecture from my sig. other—close the door- you’re wasting electricity- and the food will spoil- lol—sure from the door being open for 3 minutes or so.

I usually know what I am looking for too, but when I am bored and just want to eat I will stand there with the door open for a minute. No more than that because i get cold easily I guess =) I don't know why the cold air comes out of the refrigerator but it bothers me, I always tell my kids to hurry up because i am cold =)

Only a couple of seconds at most I would think. I pretty much know what I am looking for so i just open it, get it and then close it. A few times it does take a little longer though when I can't find what I am looking for.
My son has a habit of leaving the fridge door open though and often have to remind him to close the fridge door please LOL

When I'm hungry and have the need to raid the fridge, it takes me about two minutes to get what I want. If I will just get a glass of water, I close it as soon as I poured the water from the pitcher to my glass.

I won't leave the refrigerator open for a long time because it will waste a lot of electricity. Usually I will spend no more than 30 seconds to find the foods I want.

Generally I know what I'm looking for, but my problem is that I seem to get... mesmerised... by the fridge and its contents when I open it, and I just stand there... with a mind blank =P
We don't have cats or any other indoor, fridge-loving animals, so it's no real problem, besides my legs getting cold =P
