I agree about the ignorance of the costs... I just adopted a cat on Friday and his vet bills already are over $200! Just for a check-up and booster shots. Another $300 in a few weeks for declawing and neutering. But it is worth it to me because he is a sweet cat who needed a good home.

Got to declaw them if they are indoor cats. Another exspense replacing clawed up furniture legs. HAHAHA!

I have to say that we in Australia don't believe in declawing. No vet with do it. In fact, I think it is against the law.

Owning any type of animal as a pet is just like having a child. Many many responsibilities. Lot's of work and love needed by the owner.

Yes, I would agree that a pet is much the same as a child. For some people, pets are their children.
