My best friend and I met when we were tiny. I don't remember meeting her she has just always been in my life. Well I moved away four years ago and would call her all the time to talk and she would say she would call me and never would. Now we don't even talk. I am tired of making the effort. Last year I even bought her a ticket to come see me and she came and then I never hear from her. She had a baby in April and didn't even call to tell me. Sould i just get over it and realize we have just both moved on??

You have two choices:
1. always be the one to make the effort
2. move on
I know what you mean though. I have been there and done that so many times due to constant moves. I got tired of always being the one to make the effort. With this last move, I stopped. I figured that if our friendship meant as much to them, as it did to me, then they would contact me eventually. If they didn't, I knew that I was not as important to them as they were to me. I then moved on.
In today's world of IM and email, there is no reason for friends to lose touch. It simply shows laziness or lack of interest on that person's end. They no longer have the excuse of the expense of phone calls or the time it takes to write long newsy letters. It takes only a few minutes to IM someone or to write a fast email. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

I agree and I have even emailed her. So I think I will just move on. Thanks
