JK Rowling plans to write a new mystrey book series. what are your expectations?

If she can write a mystery series that is even half as good as the HP series, I am already drooling. I believe that the HP series was one of the best fantasy fiction to come out in a long long time.
Rowling story telling in the series was magnificient. If she can even reach 50% of that quality, the series would be worth reading.

the first book is always the best just like with most other things such as movies. sometimes people try to drag it out, and they over do it, but they do it just for the money. harry potter books was only good from part 1-4 than 5 and 6 kind of lost it's touch. i was really happy that 7 was good and not like 5 and 6. if she writes mystery i probably will rent it first just to see if it's worth it. besides she doesn't need to write or do anything anymore for money. she's the secon richest female in the world!

I don't necessarily agree that the first is almost always the best. You just need to look at the Sir Isaac Asimov. Almost all of his stories are classics. The Robot Series, The Foundations Series, The Empire Series. Even his non fiction is too good!!
So I do not necessarily agree on this. Usually people raise the bar so high with their first offering, that in an effort to better it they tend to go back to the ingredients that made the first series successful and in this they loose the viewer interest as they find the storyline repeating.
Check out Dan Brown for instance. After the mega success of Da Vinci Code, I read Angels and Demons, Digital Fortress and other books and found that all have a similar storyline.

I saw an article online that said that the story of her writing a mystery novel was a joke that got out of hand, and she is not actually working on anything right now. With the secrecy that surrounded much of the Harry Potter stuff, it could be that this is just a smoke screen or something to delay the official news until she wants to reveal it... or it could be the truth and she's not doing anything new yet. Actually, I take that back. I think she said to Meredith Viera that she is working on two different stories right now and she'll see which one captures her, which is just what she did when she started Harry Potter. But I did hear that the story about the mystery novel wasn't true.
Regardless, I love the way she tells her stories and would be very interested in reading what she does next.

I'm really excited about this! I hope the new mystery book series will be really different from the Harry Potter books. I hope this time it will be closer to reality but if it's not, it still alright for me cause I'll probably get hooked with J.K. Rowling's talent in writing again =)

The Harry Potter books can already be considered as mystery books.... i think a lot of readers have huge expectations on her new book... i am looking forward to reading it but i will not compare it to the Harry Potter series because J.K. Rowling admitted that she might not be able to write something that generated the attention of the Harry Potter books...
