I went to the grocery store yesterday, I thought I was buying a cornbeef, it wasn't a Corn-beef it was a Brisket. I was talking to my girl-friend on the phone, and she goes that was not a corn-beef it is a Brisket. well I have never cooked a Beef Brisket in My life. I don't think I like it. I didn't put any seasons in it. have you ever cooked one before if so how did you fix it? What seasons would you use?

OMG ~ I love Brisket, here is my easy recipe Boil the Brisket with one slice onion for 1 hour, after the hour is up place the Brisket (and onions, if you desire) in a 9 x 13 pan in the oven with barbeque sauce on it on 250 degrees for 3 hours. Basting with sauce every 30 minutes. This is so delicious the meat falls apart when you eat it. You will think differently about brisket this way!

Check the label real good. Usually when you buy cornbeef it is cornbeef brisket. I just cook mine in my cooker for several hours. If it is a cornbeef brisket you can also cook it on the stove. Check the label, does it have directions. Was the meat prepackaged or was it in the store package. As for seasoning, some times it comes with a little packet. If not just cook it like you would do a roast. Good luck, I am sure it will turn out. At least its not chicken.

Thanks for best response. I read some of your other responses. The BBQ sounds good. I always buy the corned beef too. I learned something today. As for the chicken, don't go to clucking.

It had the store label on it, I know most Cornbeef come in a plastic package, with the seasoning, I know one thing that Brisket was high. It cost about $13.00 a CornBeef isn't that much, well it is lesser than a Brisket I know that for sure. Vicky you are so silly, you always make me laugh. no I didn't make chicken, but that reminds me I will start another disussion about Chicken. I am going to do it right now! LOl. Have a good eveing.

This is a good link for corned beef/brisket recipes. When I buy the meat it comes in a bag with the spices and brine already in it so I don't have to add any spices.

Yes I know when you buy Cornbeef the seasoning is already in the bag. I wish I would of got that instead, it didn't taste too good. I guess if I had put seasoning on it it would of been good. I think I like Corn Beef better.

Beef brisket is what you make corned beef from, so I can understand your confusion. It probably said "for corned beef" and you did not read the "for". For ordinary brisket, you cook it slow for three to four hours in a 350 degree oven or all day in a slow cooker. Braise it first before cooking it, salt and pepper and garlic salt or powder would be plenty. Oh if you are adventurous and want to make corned beef, go to http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blbeef153.htm for the recipes. You will need saltpeter, garlic cloves, and pickling salt and it takes about three weeks in a cool fridge or refrigerator until ready to eat.

Oh I wish I had known before you cooked it. Brisket is so yummy. We marinate ours in either italian dressing or a mixture of candian steak seasoning and worstshire sauce and alittle liquid smoke then either cook on the smoker outside very slow or I will put inside a cooking bag like you use for turkeys and cook it slowly in the oven. It is so yummy I think I'll buy one today when I go shopping. huggzzz
