What do you want to READ about?

I have always dreamed of being a writer and honestly, though its rather silly, I would love to have a column like Carrie on S*x and the City. It doesn't have to be a relationship column, just something that I can create from everyday life, but WHAT DO PEOPLE WANT TO READ??? In order to make a living at it, whether it be via newspaper column OR blog, people have to visit and read it to make it successful, so what is it that people are wanting to read about??

I really don't have an answer for you but I wanted to jump in and say what an excellent question you have posed. It is easy for someone to say they like to read romance, or mystery, or women's fiction. But genres can be pretty general so pinning it down to be more specific is harder. But are you asking only as non-fiction, column type of reading/writing? I read the "Dear..." type of columns whether they be about relationships or about etiquette. I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do. It's a tough call to make.
