Sometimes when I'm going to sleep at night and I'm not in the mood to have the tv on I'll turn my radio to an am station to listen to talk shows. Years ago I actually had favorites that I wouldn't miss late at night but they are all gone now. I especially liked trivia shows that would sometimes be on and were lots of fun to listen to. I can't listen to music when I'm going to sleep because I tend to start singing and tapping my toes and it takes a long time to fall asleep doing that..lol...
During the day when the spirit hits me I'll turn on one of the Irish Music or very old oldies stations to listen to while I'm doing housework. For some reason these can only be found on am stations.
Do you ever listen to am radio stations? Do you have any favorites? Do you prefer music or talk?

Yes indeed, ctry. I keep my radio in the bedroom tuned to my favorite AM station so I can listen to the hate-talk until Coast To Coast AM comes on at 12:00 AM. My living room station on my stereo is an FM station because when I have visitors they usually want to hear R&B Oldies. I also have a tiny radio that I use in the bedroom where I listen to the FM Country music station during the day or on weekends. I find that music also keeps me awake because I inevitably know most of the songs and can't resist singing along.

lol...I so know that feeling of not being able to resist singing along. I appreciate the country music on some am stations too but there aren't many stations around here that play it.

I have such a wide variety in music I can't just listen to a few stations but a ton of them. So I really don't have a favorite. I just change that dial until I come across something I like at that moment.

I still listen to Am radio stations, just like when our television brokedown and I need to hear news. It provided me more than what I bargained for, with live news feeds and updates, I find radio more effective than listening to cable tv news and local news channels. Also, they have dramas and informative programs to listen at.

I hardly ever listen to AM, except when I am getting breakfast ready in the morning.
My husband, when he is home, has AM on a lot. I quite enjoy listening to it as background music.

When I was a kid, I used to love listening to AM stations. I have my particular favorites from their version of soap opera and thos programs that solve listeners problems. They even enact the situations and sometimes they are hilarious. My cousins and I had a grand time discussing the latest story we heard or the latest adventure of the radio heroes. But alas, I grew up. We went from children to teens and by that time listening to AM stations were not cool. FM stations and the latest music was the in thing. And to this day, I haven't tuned in to AM stations. Well, I guess those were the days!:)

Actually I often listen to a local AM station. It is the only station around here that doesn't blast forth with country music! The AM station to which I listen plays golden oldies, which beats the heck out of country!

I listen to the Cubs and Bears games when they are broadcast on am radio. Listening to Ron Santo during a Cubs game doesn't compare to the television announcers. He is the biggest Cub fan ( he is also an ex-Cub player) there is and he puts his heart on his sleeve during every game.
Some of the Bears radio announcers are ex-Bears players and they exude such excitement when the Bears do good and groan alot when Rex screws up!!
PEACE
