are the contestants in reality shows really that naive?

American Idol was here today, doing their general audition thing. On the news, they showed a few people who didn't make it who sung okay, one who made it who didn't sing for them and one woman who couldn't sing at all but was chosen. She said she knew she couldn't sing, that they picked her for the way she moved. Then she did some ridiculous looking dance and said that was how she moved. The private audition for the judges is later this week. At first, I felt kind of sorry for her. Clearly, they will be making fun of her for the sake of 'good television'. Then I thought she must know that is why they picked her, if she knows she can't sing. What do you think? Is there anybody left who is that naive?

I think there are some people who just want the attention, and there are some people who want something so badly that they'll delude themselves in order to keep the dream.

Then I fell really sorry for her. Standing in line for 10 hours, knowing she can't sing, just to get the opportunity to have someone make fun of you on national television. That is sad and desperate!
