I can tolerate some amount of hot chili in my food but not too much. Yesterday, I was introduce to this new Filipino delicacy called "halang-halang" and was brave enough to try it. Man it was burning hot! I tried to cool off with water but nothing happen. What's the best to cool off your mouth after eating very, very hot, spicy food? Heeellp....

There are four ways to cool off spicy in mouth other than drink milk.1.Toothbrushing 2.drink water 3.chewing gum 4.drink soft drinks. But all of these methods, drink milk is the most effective method.

The most important thing is cold. Whatever milk ,water or milk, they should be cold. That's the only way to let them work!

Actually those things do not work. You may think its gone but its still it is there. The best way is to eat sugar or eat bread and the like.

Strangely enough, I've been told, and I know it works, that milk will cool your mouth off if you eat something spicy, like a pepper or hot sauce.

To have some sweets!!! I think that would be the automatic choice for anyone who's feeling the heat... I go for sweets, and so do everybody in my family except my mom who loves to have fire in her mouth...

Well i know that water has nothing to do to cool off your mouth, whenever we have eaten some spicy food. I had a experience when we had a vacation in Puerto Galera and we tried some foods in one of the restaurants there and i can tell that it was awesome. But then, we have tried their Bicol Express and actually we've been asked if we want spicy or super spicy, then we ordered the SUPER SPICY! Whahaha And what happened was, it burned out our tounge indeed, it's really HOt! LOL Then the waiter suggested that milk could help, so we ordered glasses of milk, but guess what buddy!!! THEY DONT HAVE MILK!!! LOL So we just had some cold drinks, but it didn't help so we just waited till the spicy thing on our tounge gone. lol So i would suggest that if you'll go to a restaurant and going to have some Spicy foods, then ask them 1st if they have milk. LOL Godspeed, Kiko

I have always been told milk or bread. They do something to neutralize. And water I have always been told makes it worse. Hope this helps next time.

I think sugar followed by some cold water. I love having chillies specially I love omelets with lots of onions and chillies in it. and then after my mouth is on fire, I quickly put a pinch of sugar and then drink some cold water and I am OK again! But frankly speaking I am not brave enough to try something so hot that even water wont cool it off, so cant help you here.

I hate spicy foods. Water doesnt help cool it off. You must eat bread or something with bread in it.

I have always heard that drinking milk or eating any milk-based product would take the sting away if one has eaten a very spicy food. I was told that the reason ranch dressing is served with hot wings is because the ranch dressing has buttermilk in it. I don't know if it is true or not!

Water is the worse thing to do.All it does is make the heat hotter. You should eat plain bread or have some cream. The bread absorbs the heat, and cream soothes you mouth.

Milk might help somewhat, but I think that bread is the best, at least it works the best for me.

I usually drink lots of softdrinks or soda when I eat food that is spicy. I could never stand spicy food and I could only tolerate those that are mildly spicy. Once i was able to eat a chili and i doused it with half a liter of softdrink. LOL!

Hi,Ricko82! In China, the Sichuan dishes are famous for its spicy taste.I like Sichuan dishes and after eating the spicy food,I prefer to eat a chocolate bar or drink a glass of juice.Eating or drinking something sweet can cool off my mouth.

hi ricko82,whenever i come across such situation like eating something very spicy then i immediately drink water first and then i take some candy if i have or simple sugar as according to my experience and also scientifically water reduces immediate burning and if we take something like that dissolves easily in our mouth and that too with non-spicy characters like sugar burning is reduced to a large extent..yes..its true..so i try these two only and also both of them are not very difficult t get or find..thats it..

Hello Ricko, Milk can be fine if u get it near to your hand. Better if you can find a spearmint chewing gum with menthol. That will give you a much more comfort than milk instantly. Dont forget to chew a anti-acid tablet before eating spicy food if you problem of stomach acidity. Thanks
