Role Models

I had an interesting conversation today concerning celeberaties (Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton, Mike Vick, etc.) and their influence on the world. First I want to make it very clear that I believe we all make mistakes, and it's up to us how we choose to correct them. Now, in saying this, I do not want these people for my daughter as role models. Thankfully she is not at an age where this is a problem, but I imagine it will be one day. My question is this: Do you believe it's fair that athletes, actors/actress, singers, etc. are placed as role models? Do you think we (society) place more pressure on them? Do you think it's their responsibility to be the best person they can be, knowing that young children often look to them for guidance? On a different note, do you think the "stars" are unfairly followed by the paparazzi? Or do you think this is something they "signed" up for in their career choice? Thanks for your opinions!
