All movies are rated for a reason do you check these ratings before allowing your child to view a movie or did you do this until they were a certain age and now feel they are old enough to watch whatever they want to . At what age did you stop checking the type of movies your child was watching ? Do you worry about what some movies are teaching your children and pay close attention to how they may be seeing the movie through the eyes of a child ? I remember when my daughter was younger and someone had bought her the lion king which is a cartoon for children . She loved to watch the movie but would cry everytime it came to the spot where the father lion would be killed . I always wondered why this was part of a childs movie as I noticed afterwards that my daughter was having nightmares at night from this movie . Death is a hard concept to teach a child and very terrifying to them !!

Hi, yes i am very careful regarding not just the rating but in fact anything that my kids are watching on tv, as i feel that is such a meduim that has a deep impact on them. Movies normally we dont allow the kids to watch, unless we have seen them and find them alright to show our kids, so that they are not effected by them in any ways. Serials too, we allow only a few which is alright for the kids to watch. We prefer kids watching discovery channels or national geographics etc as well or some programmes on knowledge and quiz shows. Television over all we let them watch for just about an hour a day, as they are studying most of the time or we prefer them playing outdoor games instead. I feel when the kids are around 17-18, maybe then they can see all kinds of moves as they are mature enough by then and their emotional maturity takes place as well as the physical , so they are able to deal with things better then, but before that i dont hink its right for letting them watch movies , uneidted, as sometimes even the ratings given, arent what wed like them to see. Over all, we prefer the kids watch movies we have seen earlier, unless we know for sure the movies are a kids movie and is acceptable to us.

I prefer to know what my children are watching as well and would prefer that they watch something educational especailly my younger children as their minds are like little sponges and they pick up on so much of what they see . I find that sometimes the ratings are not enough and as parents sometimes it is better for us to view the movie first before we decide if our children should watch the program . Thank you for your response .

I agree with that, and do just that myself, alwasy see the movies before i show it to my kids, specailly the movies that are shown now are days, and i think as i follow this right from the beginning, it does not effect the kids either. Thanks for marking this the best response, i appreciate that. Have a nice day.

If I have kids I will definitely check the ratings before allowing my kid to view a movie. Even certain cartoons are not suitable for kids to watch. For example The Ogre and the Cockroaches. I personally think this is a very brutal cartoon which teaches children to be violent and cruel at heart. I don't understand they make these types of cartoon for little kids to watch. Furthermore there are no dialogs in this cartoon, so I think they intended it for children under the age of three years old to watch. This is really terrible.

I am very careful as to the movies and TV shows that my children watch. I always check the rating and then I also check the feedback and reviews before I really allow my children to watch the movie. There are certain movies and cartoon shows that I don't like my children to watch because I consider them to be not fitting for their age. For one, I haven't allowed my children to watch Lion King ever because the content is just too violent for their age and the story line itself, I consider to be not good for their age.
