Has two friends or something to that extent ever first meet on the internet and met in person and are still friends or something to that extent after meeting them in person?

I've met several friends from the internet and went on to meet them in person. A few years ago, I took a road trip just so I could meet some of my online friends in person. One friend went on to become my husband. We've been together almost 3 years now.

Weren't you scared that the other person could be a criminal, predator, dangerous, or crazy?

There's always some concern that the person might not be who they seem to be online. I always took precautions when I would meet people. I wouldn't meet with a person unless I'd known them for a while (usually at least a year) online. Someone (usually my best friend) always knew where I was going and who I was meeting. I had a "safe call" set up where my friend would call me at a pre-determined time and if I didn't answer or answered in a certain way, she knew something was wrong and to call for help. I always met in a public place and wouldn't leave with the person on the first meet.
