Why I have to be more active in this site?

Few weeks ago, I opened an account with facebook after I learned about the site thru a TV news. Frankly, it is easy to navigate in the site but I have reservations on maintaining and updating my account.s Having said that, could you tell me why facebook is a better on-line for socialising - keep in touch with friends or to meet new friends. Are there other reasons why you are hooked everyday with facebook than having accounts from other sites, like youtube, friendster, etc. What is the best part of this site far beyond others?
