High School Yearbooks

My son just received his high school yearbook which brought me to ask this question. Did you buy a school yearbook and do you still have it? Did you have your friends sign it? I still have my high school yearbooks.... all 4 of them. When I got my high school yearbooks, we received them at the end of the school year. My son gets his at the start of the next school year so they can put all the senior "things" in it.

I had not heard of getting a yearbook in the beginning of the year. We would always get ours at the end of the year. I still have my books that were signed by my all of my friends.

I have never heard of getting a yearbook at the beginning of the year either. They sure do make them nice though.

Yes, I still have all my year books. We always got them at the end of the year. A whole lot of people signed mine, but that life for me isn't too old (I graduated high school at 16, I'm 26) so I don't look back yet voluntarily. I really just want to forget most of it, LOL!

You graduated at only 16 years old, that is pretty young. 10 years isn't really all that long ago to me. I graduated almost 30 years ago. (I feel really old right now) LOL

I still have mine. There isn't really much point to them, but I suppose when I'm older I'll appreciate them more.

I've still got my yearbook, in fact I know exactly where it is, its sitting on top of my TV. Don't ask me why I put it there as I have no clue. :-) The school I went to we got one yearbook at the end of our senior year. I got as many friends as I could gather to sign it. Those were the days. :-)

I also have all 4 of mine. We always got them at the end of the year, maybe the last week ro so of school and then we were mailed an additional part featuring spring sports pictures and things like that. You mean he gets it the fall after he graduated? I have never heard of that before. I wouldn't like that because I had fun getting everyone to sign mine. And still have fun every now and then looking back at what people wrote.

I grew up in a really small town, so I have a yearbook from Kindergarten to 12th grade. And yes, all grades were in the same book. So I have some of the same friends' signatures in Kindergarten as I do my senior year. And we got our books from the previous year at the first of the new school year.

I think that is really neat that you went to the same school for all those years. I bet everyone was really close.

I hardly ever look at those yearbooks, and it is funny because I have so many signatures in them, my mother thought I was one of the most popular people in school when she saw my yearbook.

It is the same way in our local high school!!! It seems so weird not to get the book at the end of the year and spend a day getting signatures! I don't know when this trend started but I find it silly! So one ends up with a yearbook with no signatures or anything! I have all of my yearbooks and have shared them with my children who found my old pictures to be hilarious!

Yes I bought all the high school year books as well . I believe I had four of them also but ended up throwing them out a few years ago when I was spring cleaning one day or packing up from the house we were living in to move again , not sure which . I did have all my friends sign them as we would all put some cute little story in or just give best wishes for the upcoming year . We always recieved ours at the end of the year as well . It would be different to have got it at the beginning of the year but would be a nice way to do it as well as you could put more keepsakes in it .

well i moved to a new city in the middle of grade 10 and grade 11 (a very scary venture for an only child - walking into a school and not knowing a soul!) so i got a year book from when i finished one school and when i graduated from grade 12. its funny i was just looking at one the other day...oh the haircuts that we girls used to wear! lol

I bet it was scary to start in a new school in the middle of the school year. I too laugh at some of the hair and clothes styles.

I never bought a high school yearbook. I almost did back when I was in 9th grade, but something stopped me from getting it (it was probably knowing I was in it! hahaha) The rest of my high school years I went to an alternative high school where they did not have year books. :( However I did buy a yearbook back in junior high (8th grade) and yep, I still have it after all these years. I even skim through it from time to time. :)

oh how i wish our school had a yearbook. its a dying art in south africa. my parents both have theirs. if they did have one, i would have made everyone sign it. i was with the same group since grade one and most of the people who graduated with me are still living in town. nostalgia.

I most certainly did buy a high school (and college) yearbook and yup have both. I got mine at the end of the school year as well. I have a lot of my friends signatures and well wishes in them...gee, I haven't looked at them in ages, but when I do, I always reflect on those people I knew and wonder how they are...do you do that to..wonder where your classmates are now??

I do the same thing. I haven't looked at my yearbooks in a long time either. I think I might dig them out sometime soon and show my son so he can laugh at the styles. LOL

I still have everyone of my yearbooks. I sill love to go back and read what my friends and teachers wrote. And needless to say, I have to refer to them to remember who someone is. I thought I would never forget anyone.

Yes I have all four of my yearbooks... and I continue to buy them for my kids... that is interesting that they gave them out the next year... that would defeat having your friends sign them I think... I don't know if I like tha idea! Maybe an insert would be the way to do it???? yes I have friends that signe mine and it is neat to look back 20 plus years ago and see who I hung out with! My kids love it!!!

I bought a yearbooks. A lot of my friends sign in it and I also sign in a lot. But 5-6 years ago I lost it. Maybe it's somewhere in a box (I moved 5 times in 6-7 years) or maybe it's somewhere at my ex places. I wish I could find it back. There is some signature in it that are really important to me.

yes i do have all of mine too,i love to look at them every now and then just for the great memories and what the people said in them.i always got mine at the end of the year, and even then they were pretty expensive, but made very nice and well worth the money.the best was when you got your yearbook and waited all year for certain people to sign it,like the boys you liked at that time, wondering what they would write, and when know one was looking you would check it out and have such a huge smile on your face.that was great.take care hon.pattie
