When do you say enough is eough when it comes to pets? Is is ok to let each family member have their own pet? We currently have 3 dogs , 2 cats and 3 fish. It seems like a lot of animals to me. Especially when I am the one left to clean up after them when others neglect to do so. I love animals and I feel obligated to give strays a place to stay if even just for a few weeks. When I think about finding them a new home I feel guilty. Does anyone else have this problem?

Not trying to offend anyone, but I think one animal in a household is plenty. Your post made me think of this Russian woman I saw on the news who shares a 2 bedroom apartment with 130 cats. My hubbys boss is like that and her parents have 6 cats and 2 dogs in their home. Luckily though they run a stable and most of the strays they come across now get neutered and sent out to the barn to live. I can understand how you might feel a bit guilty I have a really soft spot for animals but I tend to just not allow myself to get attached. Its nice to hear that you are trying to help them out though. They are strays mostly because someone didnt care enough to begin with. http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=48325a25-52bb-4a68-a0a9-610402c7ec5a&f=msnhome&fg=copy Hope this links works just wanted to share the video of the Russain woman and her 130 cats!

lol I know! Wasnt that crazy?? lol Well I guess she is a bit like u only extreme! She obviously cant say not either. Her home really didnt look that messy or anything so she must keep after them. Unless they dont have animal cops in Russia!

I might have that many if I lived on a farm but not a 2 bedroom apartment. LOL

I know how you feel. feel bad if I don't pick up stray kittens... I have 14 cats and it's so exhausting! I kinda regret having them all but I love them and can't let them go... You should only care for ones that you can take care of w/o stressing yourself too much.

Yes I agree but someone has to care for them.

Hmm... I dunno if this helps but I think you should discuss this also with your family since each of them do own atleast one of the said pets, right? Try talking them into giving some of their time to take care of their pets when they're home. Sorry if it's not much... I couldn't really think of other solutions. I'm sure it'd hurt you to give them away to someone else. I know I would.

compared to my friends house you are fine. they have 9 dogs, a ferret, a chinchilla, a rabbit and a fish tank of fish. you'd think with all that their house would be full of hair and stink but it really doesn't.

I do have this problem but I have realized that I just cant help them all. I have 1 dog and 2 cats right now. I had 6 cats and one dog but I just couldnt do it because I couldnt afford to take them all to the vet when they needed it and it was so much work to keep the litter box clean, ( although the dog tried to help)LOL. I think that you should not feel guilty for wanting to find them a home at least you are doing what you can for them.
