i always hear this saying before, that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away". Is this true ? tell me why? i am just so curious to know where they got this sayings. i like apples specially the fresh crunchy ones. Do you think eating apple a day will prevent you from getting sick or what? hhhmm.. sounds a little weird and funny, but give us your opinion about this saying, we'll be glad to hear it!

It is an old saying, I don't know where it started but I always thought it was from the early 20th century and it was a way to get people to eat apples. Apples are a great source of vitamin c and a.So they can help you remain healthy. So I guess it is true.

I was watching a documentary a while ago and there was some speculation that it had partly to do with sailors.
When at sea they couldn't get access to a lot of fresh food and many suffered from deficiency diseases such as scurvy or rickets.
Oranges are known for having vitamin C but apples do as well and they keep much better than oranges. It was found that eating fruit such as apples kept the sailors healthier and therefore "kept the doctor away" whom many of them wouldn't have been able to see anyway.

See I don't know if I believe that because I know a lot of people who eat healthy, and they still have lots of medical problems.

It is a very old saying, but someone was way ahead of their time! Apples are so nutritious: low sodium, high in fiber, low fat, and more! If one eats an apple a day, they are likely getting enough fiber to help keep them 'regular' in their bowel movements and getting plenty of vitamin C too!

I guess is probably owing to its nutrients. I personally feel that a balanced diet, exercise regularly and plenty of rest with a clear mind will keep a doctor away be it physically or mentally.

Well, an apple is a healthy food. It has fibers and it has negative calories! But I think I read from Reader's Digest that it's actually five apples.
However, of course, if yous moke, drink, don't exercise, eat junk foods, etc. and eat apple alongside it, it still wouldn't keep the doctor away, right?

There are countries where a cost of apple is beyond an ordinary man's reach. In that case the saying should be AN APPLE A DAY KEEPS THE MONEY AWAY. Anyhow, talking about apple, it is believed that eating apple contributes for imporvement of blood ciruclation. I do not know any other theories.
