When I was in high school I dated a guy who did cross stitch. It sounds weird, I know -- but his mom was so against anything that his dad liked that she taught her sons to enjoy the hobbies she enjoyed. He taught me how to do it. I haven't done any cross stitch in at least 10 years. Yesterday I got 3 ornament kits from a sort of swap on another site. I did 1 yesterday and I'm almost done with the second. It's been so long I forgot how much I enjoyed it. I got the kits thinking that they'd be nice to give to my best friend for christmas. Have you re-discovered the joy of any crafts you enjoyed long ago lately?

When I was younger I had craft projects going on all the time: cross stitching (that I never finished), crocheting (long thready things mostly), knitting (allthough I never really figured out WHAT I was knitting) and making plushies that were actually quite good. I had a break from all that for six or seven years, but now I'm slowly starting to rediscover the joy of crafts, and finding new ones I'm interested in. It's really amazing to take up an old hobby and discover that you're better at it now than you were before!

oh, yeah, cross stitch. I'd almost forgotten about this - I usually knit or crochet. Sometimes I bead. But cross stitch and embroidery are so relaxing.

I use to do cross stitch like 7 years ago... it became such a craze in the Philippines then... I love doing those Angel cross stitch which were quite big. I finished a lot but since i don't have the money to have them framed, i just gave them as gifts to my friends... i hope i can have the time to cross stitch again....

Yes ofcourse I have rediscovered the different stich and pattern i used to do in the shool days and earlier but not doing for a lot, If i now try to do it, at first I get wrong and then I keep trying and when I get the right one ane see its like what i used to do earlier I get excited. I love this thing. I used to do mirror work on clothes and sheets and the i forgot. i have tried after many years and I found after a few wrong steps, I am able to do even better than what I used to do in the past. I did cross stich on several sheet and table cloth in the past

Coolness, I bought a Needlepoint kit the other day and plan to learn that. I also want to learn how to crochet so I can have something to do other than stare at the computer all day.

I kind of jump around with several different crafts, but I haven't done any cross stitch in a very long time. I have recently gotten some nice patterns and was thinking about trying it again. I haven't done it since high school either. I learned from an elderly neighbor. I got to learn a new craft and she enjoyed having some company.

I love cross stitch I have been doing it for over 10 years now. They do make great gifts and its not so odd to see a guy doing it. There is a NFL football player that cross stitches on the plane on his way to the games.

How fun. And what a good idea for christmas gifts. I love to receive something someone has made. I used to do cross stitch too and put it down for years. I picked it up again to make something for my baby nursery a couple of years again and rediscovered it like you say. It was very fun.

Someone on another site reminded me about latch hook yesterday, and now I'm itching to go out and buy a latch hook kit, or at least some blank canvas, short yarn, and a hook. I used to make latch hooks all of the time, but they sort of became much less popular for a good long while. I think it would be fun to do one that isn't so much a picture, but just a pattern instead, and turn it into a really plush pillow! :)

Good for you! I use to cross stitch a lot because I live near to a cross stitch shop. We also do a lot of DIY in school for home economics so I was able to do a lot of patterns. However, I moved to Liverpool a few months ago and I am absolutely clueless as to where to get my cross stitch supplies.
