i love to watch willys show but i am worried about the effects of millions of poor filipinos who might putting their time, dream, money in going to ABS-CBN studio hoping one day they would be millionaires, instead of looking for jobs, putting up small business, attending to their familys, has anyone tried to think how many millions of pesos spent from poor filipinos money nationwide just to be able to go to MANILA and line up for number of days to be interviewed and hopily joined the program...same comment to GMA7..

Hi westhernanimus! I am from the Philippines and I am aware of how our countrymen tries to line up to get inside those studios and somehow join contests and win a couple of hundreds or thousands or even a million. Some borrow money for fare in going to Manila but these game shows no matter what may some people think that it has some negative effects, let us see the good points in them. Most of the Filipinos are poor and they will go to where they could find hope to alleviate their life may it be game shows or what. But if it could help them somehow, why not? Well, these are just my thoughts dear. Take care and have a nice day!

I am very sorry but I really have to say this, I am Filipino and I know we should love our people, land and et cetera but I really don't like Wowowee. That TV show for me is so plastic. I mean the hosts is sometimes rude and it's really obvious that they are doing their job, being a host. I don't like it when they made fun of ignorant people who joined the programed. Why do they always like to choose ignorant people to join their programs? Is that because it would be fun to look at them crying in front of the television and waiting for someone to hand over money to them or they really wanted to help?

Hi ruzzychai0330! I do agree with you completely and I do share your opinion on this matter. I really don't like game shows like this and I could see how they treat our less fortunate brothers. I know this people are rude and I could see the hypocrisy on the game shows. However, our poor brothers sometimes resort to game shows like this and even though their dignity will be somehow degraded because they are being made fun of, It is still their decision why they have to join. The main reason is poverty. So sad but it is true. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day! :)

The war of the two TV stations is somewhat disgusting. There are other networks you can choose from, but because of their war they become more controversial and they just the two networks usually watched by Filipinos. Game shows must be truthful to their games and participants of the games and their audience are watching closely for their errors and they better be careful and truthful to the people. I wish they learned from the errors they made.

I am from Philippines & watching Wowowee is my hobby during lunch time. Watching the Willie of Fortune, Pera o Bayong and Merry Regalo is quite funny, amusing and exciting. It gives hope to all Filipino, especially to those belongs to poverty line. It somewhat replace the part of the role of the government w/c failed to notice the needs of the people. At least, this game show answered the dreams of every poor Filipino even just for luck/chance. We should commend it rather than criticize negatively.

I think the two shows does help our poor people. It somehow help them and we cannot blame this people who want to win. Yeah, I believe that relying on lucks to find money is also wrong. I hope it will also serve an eye opener to the government how many people in our country nowadays are poor and needs too much attention. But honestly I salute this kind of shows for their dedication to help everyday. We already know that there are now many poor people who won money and atleast their lives are being changed.

Really it is true. "Network Wars"? These stations battle for fame, they want to on top of the other. They do all means to be the no.1. So what?
They are so disgusting and so is the government. The government is willing to give billions of money for the military. They are so dumb putting all the money into the military and almost nothing for education and health programs for the people. They aim for too much power... .

Wowowee is a business, and the bottomline for ABS-CBN is that they're earning. Whatever social consequences are brought about by the show, the point is that they're making money out of it. It's just sad that most people watching the show - the ones sacrificing working hours and extra money, in particular - are drawn in because of the idea of "quick money," thinking that such a small boost to their finances would save their tails from poverty.
That's just not the right solution. Not even their pang-negosyo packages are going to give these people the right livelihood; there's no way a person's going to learn how to fish just by giving him a fishing rod.
Still, I'm not against Wowowee and how it reinforces the kind of mentality I just described. I already said the bottomline here is that Wowowee is a business, and there's nothing stopping Wowowee from legally taking advantage of how the average Filipino thinks.

I am one of those millions of poor Filipinos. For me, they're just for entertainment. Besides, without us these shows will never prosper! ;)
