I always knew the CEO's made more money than ordinary workers, but that much? There is a group that makes even more than CEO's? Who are they? Click this link and find out. http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/28/news/economy/ceo_pay_workers/index.htm What do you say? Is this right? Wrong? Can anything be done about it?

DEAR redyellowblackdog (1393); To respect to your good attitude towards that subject of article, I've copied and paste those texts of news(bottom part*). OK - we can comment NOTHING about that statements. As for every CEO in any company, will be appointed by the Board of Directors by the respective company. That is the nature of CEO's appointment, accordingly, under the Company Act. That is one of many benefits for one's CEO. ************COPIED FROM THE WEB PAGE******************* *CEO pay: 364 times more than workers *The wage gap is still gaping, according to a new report. But it's not nearly as wide as the gap between private equity managers and everyone else, including CEOs. *By Jeanne Sahadi, CNNMoney.com senior writer August 29 2007: 8:25 AM EDT *NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Pay comparisons almost always leave someone feeling dwarfed, and none more so than the CEO-to-worker pay gap. But even CEOs have reason to feel seriously dwarfed these days, thanks to the outsized paychecks of private equity and hedge fund managers. *The average CEO of a large U.S. company made roughly $10.8 million last year, or 364 times that of U.S. full-time and part-time workers, who made an average of $29,544, according to a joint analysis released Wednesday by the liberal Institute for Policy Studies and United for a Fair Economy. *That gap is down from 411 times in 2005 and well-below the record high of 525 times recorded in 2000. But the comparison isn't exactly apples-to-apples, in part because IPS and UFE changed how they measured CEO options pay this year.

This is disgusting, I know they put in long hours etc..but it does not justify the difference. Ben and Jerry's ice cream has a pay policy which says that the CEO shall make no more then 8 or 10 times the amount of the lowest paid employee. So if that CEO wants a big raise, the guy at the bottom gets one as well. And I would assume so does everyone in between the two. What else bugs me, around here, a few years ago a school superintendent with a 6 figure salary was fired, as his severance package they gave him one year salary while he looked for a new job. How is that...getting a year's salary for being incompetent while he goes to another school system to get a job.

What can be done about this? I can't think of anything. There are evils and injustices of unbridled capitalism just as there are evils and injustices of pure socialism. I think a mixture of both would mitigate these huge gaps. I realise that people who are in charge of the welfare of large companies also contribute to the welfare of the workers who toil for those companies but how can the risk that those CEO's take on a daily basis be worth so much more money. I guess the members of the Board of Directors think so. As for hedge fund managers and similar professions I cannot comment because I don't know exactly what their work involves and what the consequences are if they screw up.

Actually, there is something being done about it. It is going to take a very long time, but stockholders are slowly getting fed up and realizing their CEO's are over paid. It will take a while but CEO pay will come down some as the owners of the companies (stockholders) slowly regain control over their companies.

Your welcome. I'm planning on more posts about the economy and markets in the future. Maybe we can stimulate more interest in the subject.
