I left my computer alone last night to go and watch TV. When I went to shut the computer down its screen was red with a waring lable on it, telling me to download privacy manager now. It keeps getting in my way and popping up. I think it is a virus or has a virus attached to it. It does not belong to my system. I was going to start to download it when my virus system from Yahoo advised me not to. Now I cannot seem to get rid of these windows that keep popping up telling me to down load the system now. I have my pop up blocker on so that is working. I think I need to take it in the doctor. What do you guys think? Does any one know how I can get rid of this mess? Do I need antibiotics for my computer? While typing this discussion I have had to stop and get rid of the windows several times. Grrrrrrrr. Help please.
I have gone to the temp downloads to see if I can find it, I have gone to the "c" drive and cannot find it to get rid of this thing.
I am desperate here.

The biggest problem with this type of malware on your computer is that even if stop the program via Task Manager, it is likely to be restarted by a source program hiding elsewhere. This makes it very difficult to delete unless you boot into DOS and delete in manually.
The first thing to try is to use System Restore to turn the system back to before the problem started, it is amazing how effective this can be. If that does not work, then you may need to consider reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows etcetera.

First thing, You'll need good advice:
http://www.smartcomputing.com/techsupport
The next thing you'll need a Malware/Spyware killer:
http://www.spybot.com
http://www.grisoft.com
Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get rid of the window... you might also need to restore your computer's clock to an earlier time... run all of your anti-virus stuff and de-frag your disk drive- then clean the registry.

You can tell me all things in the world to do but I do not understand.
I I can go to the web sites, I know how to use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get rid of the window. Why would I need to set the clock back? I have used my antivirus stuff in my computer already.
Help!!!!!!

i would suggest that you have it reformatted, so that means that you have to start all over again.if everything else fails, have the doctor take over and cure your pc of the virus or else it will spread then tell them to partition your hard drive to drive c and d to protect you files in the future.

I laughed so hard when I read your title, lol VD, lol. You'll have to sit it down and have a talk about safe cybering and viral protection, lol.
I use CCleaner on my pc and run it to catch all the spyware and cookies and things of that nature and cookies too. It helped me get rid of a lot of pop ups and things that were causing general BS on my pc. It's easy to install and run and they have a tutorial with picutures too. Go to www.ccleaner.com and download it. Oh and it's 100% free too!

LOL, too funny. Wow that call was so not a good sign but surely the doctor can fix it and the scare will have your pc practicing safe cyber methods from now on! I know what you mean about the advice, I'm always leary too. I used the CCleaner because I was doing gpt sites and used it to clear the cookies between offers and then I noticed that all of a sudden all the hard to get out bugs on my pc were gone and it was running faster. Go figure. Best of luck with your pc!

Hi,
First tou must know you got a virus.a virus is a progrom that uses the resorces of your computer in a way you don,t want too. This program (virus) was installed on your computer by you or by another user of the computer. You where probably triked in downloading and instaling this program.
To be able to get rid of this program you got two solutions.
1.Install and run and antivirus program (there are free antivirus programs and some payed have free trial periods).
2.Reinstall your operating system (that means windows I belive in your case).
To prvent such sitations in the future you should not download any executable programs and you should keep an antivirus program runing all the time.
