I just set up DSL in our house and a linksys home networking system so that all our pc's (we have 2 laptops and a desktop) can use the same internet connection. I got everything going except my laptop ....it is wireless and it can check the email from our ISP but none of the internet pages load. It says it has a good connection but nothing loads. Also I tried to get the security thingie to work but it never did so my pc says that the connection is unsecured could that have something to do with why the internet pages won't load?

I am not a pro, but i too use wireless connection for a laptop and a desktop and we have DSL for the internet connection.
I see the trend that when both the systems are being used the connectivity is very slow and we are not able to access the pages at times. I have inquired on it and i was only told that it happens sometimes because of split of bandwidth across the two systems.
So just try using that laptop alone sometime and keep trying so that the bandwidth will be resolved at a point of time and you'll be able to access pages from then.
It worked for me, i hope it works for you too.

Well that would be great but even when the desktop is not in use the laptop can't access the pages......it is frustrating. The whole reason we got the home networking system was so I could access the internet on my laptop.

Diffently need to upgrade to 8mb. I am only a Tier 1 HSI tech support, and I see this Home Networking problems everyday. Also,
if you have cable on the same line, when they use a splitter it slows it down. Try just getting one line for internet purposes
only. Splitters go bad very easy and the silver ones are the best. Try not to purchase them at a grocery store, go to a Radio
Shack. One line from the tap works much better.

I am on DSL through earthlinks and we don't have anything on it except internet. I can check my earthlinks mailbox but nothing else. I don't think I did it right but hate to call tech support because I am hearing impaired and it seems like everybody who works in tech support has heavy accents which I cannot understand. I am going to try working with it again tonight. It just gives me a headache when I try to figure out something I am totally dumb at.
