I'm actually agnostic, not an atheist - so I am some what open to the idea of their being a god and I am constantly amazed at how frustrated 'believers' get at not being able to get their message across. So now is your chance.
If you could tell an atheist ONE thing what would it be?
Please feel free to say what ever you want - but remember think about what you write before you write it because you only have one shot.
To be fair - I'll share one thing with you guys : Regardless of your religion you should be accepting of others peoples beliefs - that way they will be more accepting of yours.

Out of everything said - this is probably the nicest and most comforting. I think a lot of theist's could learn a thing or two from not pushing their values onto others.
Whenever I talk to a theist and they start to try and push their values onto me rather than having an open and frank discussion I shut down to being receptive of their views - simply because they aren't listening to mine and responding they are simply spitting off bible verses.
It's comforting to know that if god is indeed real that he won't harbour any type of angst or hatred towards me.

Let us say that the debate between theist and atheist ends in a draw because both of them gives equally powerful evidences for and against God's existence. However, after the evidences have been presented there is one point one must consider. And it is not an evidential support for God's existence.
When you die, atheist, and you learn that God is not there what do you gain? nothing.
When you die, theist, and you learn that God is not there what do you lose? nothing
When you die, theist, and you learn that God is there what do you gain? Everything
When you die, atheist, and you learn that God is there what do you lose? Everything.
So if we have to bet in this game called LIFE, being a theist is a much safer bet. Because it's a win-win game, which is not the case for atheist.

This is a very difficult question that is for sure. I really don't know what I could tell an atheist about anything. They reject the belief in God or gods and they don't believe in any theism whatsoever, essentially theirs is a belief in disbelief. So to be fair, quoting bible or any other religious theory would do no good. I would just ask that they research the bible and/or other religious theologies and educate themselves as we should educate ourselves. I did find a good answer on yahoo and I will share it with you:
well, you must first ask the atheist why they dont believe in god. and then you have to be able to prove to them by using the bible that god does exist. Ask them questions such as" humans are very unique creatures. Our body is way too complex to have happened by chance,or by some Big Bang Theory..so how do you think we got here? Dont you think that their must be an intelligent creator?" Also, many of the prophesy's in the bible were written hundreds of years before they were fufillled. Humans cannot fortell such events. Only God can. All the sufering that we see today was actually fortold.(2 Timothy 3:1-5) things will continually get worse and worse, until God eliminates Satan, since he is the ruler of this wicked earth.(1 john 5:19) SO...you cant help the atheist, unless you know what causes their disbelief in God. Try to find that out first and get more details.

As I said, I am more agnostic than an atheist. I don't reject God at all, I very much beleive that God could exist, I just don't see sufficient evidence that he does exist.
Some people may be saying I am looking for a sign - but if God is real why doesn't he just give us one rather than have people unsure?

I would say something that you might not want to hear as you are looking for a sign. Everyone should belive in what they want to belive in, as long as you have your heart and soul in that. Dont change because people expect you to do that if you dont belive in something. I never force my belives upon anyone, nor do I tell them they are right or wrong about their belives. Our ancestors gave us freedom so you are free to make your own choices in life.

I am not out to change anyone's life, or their beliefs, I am just out to live my own. I am not out to convert people. If they want to be an Atheist, that's their business, and it's not mine. It's not up to one human to judge or to try and change another.

I live the Christian way and I am always ready to speak the oracles of God. If I am asked, of course I will preach the Word as commanded by God and that is the Holy Bible. If you are not interested, why should I throw the pearl to the pig.

I don't think there is any point being bullish and aggressive about your faith, that is hardly going to make people listen. On the other hand, if you feel you have something to share and the time is right, you should have the courage of your convictions to be able to talk about your beliefs.
Personally I think there is not one just thing that you can say. This would be the approach of some of those faiths that knock on doors and stop you in the street - ie. I say these three things and the 'victim' will convert on the spot. My approach would be to try to live out the Christian life and be an example, listen to people's needs and offer encouragement in the right context.
There is no point discussing the 'Father heart of God' with someone who's experience of a Father has been violent and traumatic, there is no point telling someone who has nothing that they need to give away all their posessions. Look at the way that Jesus spoke to people in the Bible. Regardless of what their opening gambit was, Jesus always went straight to the heart of the matter and addressed what was really troubling them. He had the advantage of divine insight of course, but the principal applies to us.
There is not a lot of point engaging with an Atheist if an argument is the only result. In order for any good to come of a conversation of this type the Holy Spirit needs to be at work in that persons life, you can't help to convict anyone of the truth on your own, you can just be a tool for the Holy Spirit to work in someone's life - that's all.

Hi wcr,
I want to tell you that God is very real and He loves you so very much! He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to come into this world to save it from sin.
I've been thru a lot in my life and there is no way that I could have gotten thru it on my own. God helped me and God is blessing me like never before! I have given my life to Jesus Christ and I have peace unspeakable. I know that I am His child and I know that when I die, I will be with Him forever in Heaven.
I pray that you will come to know the Lord.
He loves you!
God bless.
