Why do girls like pink....

Everyone knows that blue is for boys and pink is for girls, and two researchers from the uk may have the explanation for that fact. It seems that women may be biologically programmed to prefer the color pink, or saying that in a different way, they born with a tendency to choose pink, it's in their genes. This interesting study also found that while both men and women liked blue, women tended to pick redder shades of blue — reddish-purple hues — while men preferred blue-green.

That's so funny to me... because as a child I hated pink. Not only did I hate pink, but I really liked blue, and my favorite color of all was a kind of sea green. =P What is wrong with me???? AHHHHHH!!!!!! *giggles*

Add me to the list of broken ppl cause I for the LONGEST time despised pink! And I have to admit that the whole "girls like/should wear pink and boys like/should wear blue" has ALWAYS drove me nuts!! I think that is just such a negative thought process to have its not even funny...Its the same with "girls play with Barbies and baby dolls and boys like tonka trucks and dirt" What a load of CRAP!

*nods* I tended to destroy Barbie dolls as a child, but I loved playing with Ninja Turtles and G.I.Joes and cars and trucks... =p I also loved climbing trees, getting dirty, etc.

Wow, that is really interesting. I do know that we tend to 'program' children from birth by having pink nursery items and clothing for baby girls and blue items for boys. As the child grows the clothing is definitely 'masculine' and 'feminine' in nature. How many times do you see a deep brown infant girl outfit? Or even a toddler girl outfit? So of course girls grow up seeing pink and lavender and 'love them' while they don't appreciate brown or navy or other 'masucline' colors. I see us doing this just like we tend to give certain toys to boys and other toys to girls.

Yeah, you are definitely right! Maybe the girls like pink because as you said they are "programmed" in this way. I think if parents change the colours of everything around the baby in its first years, their little girl would like not pink but black for example :)

I don't know maybe it's in the girls DNA. And actually this season pink has become a very trendy colour for boys, too! Well, you know nowadays we live in an interesting world and everything is changing so... :)

I'M not sure it's all true. The color I hate the most is pink. I like that colour until I had 12 years old maybe. After that no one at my school was waering pink. Now pink is a colour that his back, but I still don't like it. My favorite colour is blue and all kind of blue. Almost all my clothes are blue. 2 years ago I started to waer other color like red and orange.

I know that I love pink because it is the most soft feminine color there is. It is beatiful and satin-like. It is the colr in the rainbow that men are not very likely to wear.

I love pink. But my daughter loves blue, she hates pink. and my other daughter loves green. I think people think pink is more for girls. and blue is more for boys. I don't know why.
