Yes, this is a hot topic allright, literally. Have you ever heard of Spontaneous Human Combustion? It's when someone goes up in flames for no apparent reason and without any outside influences. There are recorded cases that are unexplained and it makes one wonder, how and why did it happen? How is it possible? Check out this article and tell me what you think. http://science.howstuffworks.com/shc.htm

Yes I have read quite a bit about it and it is right up there with the 911 conspiracy theory, the man on the grassy knoll, the movie studio moon landing and last but not least the 72 virgins stories. Free basing coke will bring on a nice human combustion story along with sniffing gasoline while having a smoke.

Well you might want to take this one seriously, the article says that "the fire is sparked when methane builds up in the intestines and is ignited by enzymes". If your vent fan ever breaks down, you could be in a lot of trouble.

This could be a new jihadist, thing 5 plates of bean burritos with halopenias washed down with some crab cakes, they could walk into busy store and stick thier finger into a light spocket. The smell would be incredibale.

I'll bet it would smell just like your bathroom before you turn the vent fan on.

The scientific hypothesis at the end of the article makes a lot of sense to me and is a very likely explanation. However, it is not an emotionally satisfying answer. How about this? The devil will "get you" if you are bad. The charred remains are all that remains of mean people who had to pay the devil his "due". The flames of hell ignite the victim's soul as he is transported and the intense heat, pain, and suffering is transmitted to the physical body, which then burns for only short time as it is consumed quickly. Your soul, however, is eternal and burns forever!

Yes, nearly "wiped out" because there are so few really righteous great people like us myLotters. It is everyone else who will suffer the invisible searing flames of spontanous human combustion as their soul is shipped off to eternal damnation.

If that was the case, the human race would be nearly wiped out lol.

I am still not convinced that it is really possible. There have been quite a few times in my life that if it were possible I would have gone up in smoke.

I am not sure how it happens but I have a few people that I would like to see go up in flames, LOL. I would be a sick way to go I guess.

ive read a bit about it and seen some documentaries about Spontaneous Human Combustion. it is for sure an intrigueing topic and rather scary to boot! i mean they cases ive heard about show that the victim had no warning, no idea that something was wrong!! its scary as hell to think that for no apparant reason i could be sitting in my rocking chair watching tv and just suddenly burst into flames leaving only the bottom half of my legs!!! thats some truly freaky sh*t!! lol..have you seen that pic by the way? of that poor women in the chair and the chair is all blackened where her body would be touching yet, but not the rest of it..and just her legs up to the knee left leaning there!! and no, i dont think we have truly figured out how it happens. the theories all have some good points and some bad points.

I've heard of this. I don't know whether to believe it or not. It seems odd that a body that is 90+ % water (my figure might be off) could burn without an ignition source. I guess I will have to add my opinion to the side that says it is just one of those unexplained things.

I heard about it years ago. I have seen interviews of people who had it happen to their hands or feet. It's creepy and scary and if it ever happens to me I want my entire body to go so I don't have to watch or look at my lost limb and remember.

I have always been curious about spontaneous combustion, Riptide. There are some who hold the theory that it is not possible, but others feel just the opposite. From all the reading I have done on the subject, I think it is highly probable that it can happen. There are so many things in the world that we have very little knowledge of.
