I am a Northern girl here, born and raised in Massachuesetts. I have just recently moved down to Florida last year with my husband. I have two boys, one 2yrs old and the other is 11yrs old. My 11 year old is very introverted, shy and has a hard time making friends, adhd, etc. (just to give you a picture of his personality). I have left my whole family & friends up in Massachusetts, so has my husband. But, he got a great job offer in his chosen field, hence why we are now down here in Florida. To make a long story short, he is now being offered a position in Maine (which is not Massachusetts, but ALOT closer, a 4 hour drive actually). I am THRILLED! I really wanna move back up North to be able to see my family on a regular basis. Living down here in Florida I can only manage 2 times a year which is just not enough for me. Also, I am pregnant with our third child and I really wanna share that with everyone up north. My problem is, is that my son has finally found a school that he loves, friends, people are very nice to him down here and he really likes it. He does not want to move back North. My husband, although he has family up North, is very happy down here as well and I think He is taking this job up in Maine to make me happy. I am very sad down here. It breaks my heart that I am so far away from family. Do you think I'm being selfish by wanting to go North when my son and husband want to stay south? Now, I'm contemplating telling my husband to forget the job up in Maine, because I just want my son to be happy, but it will really make me miserable to stay down here. What would you do? Any suggestions?

This is a difficult situation for you! It is important for your son to be happy but the family should be happy as a whole. Maybe if you start showing your son some pictures of Maine and letting him see all the things you can do there. Of course this is a decision that must be made as a family, when our family made life choices we always had a meeting and voted. It is a good way for everyone to state their views. Good Luck!!!
