my elder's 1st birthday.... we had it at home, invite close friends and relatives. as the kid is still young, they r thrilled by the crowd. now he jus pass his 3rd birthday, i wanted to invite his little friends over nex yr. this is the age where he can interact n play group games, like a REAL party. LOL my youngest 1st birthday is 26 sep. but my FIL is in charge of the planning. will update once its over.

Hi, thats a lovely age,and the first birthday, we all want it to be a very special one too. But few of us realise that its a very new and different thing for the baby to be suddenly surrounded by so many people and at times they tend to get too cranky and not like the birthday at all. That happened with my elder ones first birthday, we want it to be a special one so we called so many kids her age, but she was rather startled and never left our laps and when she did, she was surrounded by a few other parents and kids, making her panicky as she did not know whom to listen and turn to, and started crying and neither did she like being so dressed up, as we had brought her a special frilly frock, and she was most comfortable and quiet when we put her old , normal clothes on and made her sit in the room she was alright with, with her pets and other toys and a few people whom she knew. So i would suggest, dont do anything too large for her, get her some toys and things you think shed need. Have a small celebration at home with family and few freins and make her feel comfortabe in her surroundings, after all its her birthday.

I think the best thing to do is to buy them a tiny cake and let them go to town with it! We did that with one of our foster babies, and he loved digging into that cake. It got all over his face and we got some really cute pictures from it. Other than that.. have family and friends over to celebrate your sweet baby!
