Does crystal therapy actually work?

Do you have any experience of crystal therapy? I know as an alternative medicine it can supposedly use your own energy to heal or fix imbalances in your body but has anybody ever found any effects from using it. I wonder as a colleague of mine has recommended it to me for treating muscular/back pain that I have had for many years, not sure whether I want to pay for something on the recommendation of one person and on something I know absolutely nothing about. I though I would ask the Mylot community as I know from past discussions just how diverse the experiences of many people here. Hope you can help, all the best, J
