Do you have inklings or signs that you recognize to be indications that you may be swinging to mania? Do you just ignore it and hope it doesn't get to that point? What are some of these signs that you experience? What are you like when you are manic?
I'm curious because they say its pretty dangerous or very hard to control people that are manic. I actually have never completely reached mania, more of hypomania but it seems right now according to my psychiatrist i am slowly exhibiting more and more signs of heading towards a full blown manic episode. Ive been very impulsive, short tempered, getting involved in so many things, gambling, starting fights for no reason, etc etc.
I know judgment is impaired during mania, and most won't be able to truly describe what happens as this is the main problem with mania, you dont think there is anything wrong.
Insights and help please!

I tend to hang out in the hypomania for a long time, then I have about 3 days of absolutely no tolerance and can't deal with anything right. Then I have a big blow up about something stupid, then I am fine for quite a while.
The key is to find your triggers that get you going to the mania, and try to find better ways to deal with those triggers.
I mean for me, there is always something that triggers the mania and the depression, and if I watch for the triggers, I can avoid the mood swings. But every once in a while the triggers just sail on past. Like right now, my system is on overload from dealing with kids and school. One is homebound for the rest of the school year, and the other is always tardy or truant. So right now, I am rapid-cycling as well, going from mania to depression.
You should see how half assed my housework is right now.
