For Mac Users: Do You Have Any Virus or Spyware Protection?

I know that PC users are plagued more with viruses than Mac users, and always need a ton of Anti-Virus and Spyware Software. But wanted opinions from fellow Mac users. Up until now I haven't bothered with any of this kind of software, as we Mac users are pretty safe from viruses, etc....Viruses are usually coded and programed for the PC not Mac, yet there have been some viruses geared for Macs.
My question is, do you use or recommend anti-virus software?

I have McAfee right now. I have always had Norton, before, but I found a free trial for McAfee, and am now using it. It seems to be ok, I haven't had any problems, but I haven't really been using it long. I've only been using it a month or so.

My Mac does have the duo Core processor which does allow for Windows applications and software, but I haven't used it..my die-hard Mac user friend told me never to use anything Windows otherwise it's a sure way to invite viruses
Brenda...how much is the McAfee after the trial though? If I ever did get anything it has to be for a Mac computer

You know, I don't remember. I signed up on my aol messenger that I signed up on, to talk to a friend. I think it was free for a year. I don't have aol as my internet, I have satelite, but when my friend wanted to talk on messenger, and she didn't have yahoo messenger, I downloaded the aol, and I got that free with it.

I was an original Apple user..going back to the Apple and then went over to the dark side--for many years. I am so sorry. BUt I did see the light and love my Mac! It is over 2 years now and I have no virus protection.
At this point, there is not really a need, but I feel that our days of enchantment maybe drawing to an end. Do you realize the number 3 computer company for sales in this country is Apple! That is a significant number of computers being sold by Apple. and every quarter that number is going up. One of these days some hacker is going to realize it and there we go.... on the Norton bandwagon.
Well then I should say, being a rather serious windows user for the years I was on the dark side (I have a history writing operating systems for PCs going back to the 8086/8088 chips and then many apps over the years) I found that Norton was much better then McAffee. Norton seemed to pick up more and suck up less cycle time in the process. So my recommendation if you have to get something and Apple does not put one out, go with Norton!

I have both..pc's and a mac. I never use protection for the mac..but the pc..oh yeah..I scan everyday after use and spyware, malware, adware always pops up.
I really don't think you need any protection for the mac, but I guess it is personal preference.

With certainty I recommend the anti-virus use, therefore if with them ja is dangerous, imagines without them?
E an excellent ant-virus that I recommend is the “Kaspersky”, but it is clearly, it to twirl without problem you must more than have in its 512 PC or memory.
But for that it has less than 512 an excellent anti-virus is the “AVAST” that with certainty ja had heard to speak.
