The cost of education nowadays are alarming, it grew by about 5000% since the 80's to early 90's. Most parents cannot afford to give their children quality education particularly in college these days.
Should we parents, encourage our children to go to vocational schools instead?

The best way to prepare for the cost of higher education is to begin saving when your children are still infants. Put money away in a protected account or plan for higher education expenses. Encourage your children do well in school from the start and to pursue activities they enjoy. Students who do well and show passion have a good opportunity to get scholarships. When your children enter high school, seek out information on grants, summer jobs, internships, work-study programs, grants, and scholarships. Start preparing today because before you know it your kids will be graduating!

Hi there Raul!
You're right. It has increased but we don't have any choice but to work harder so we can still send our children to a decent college. I think that we don't have any choice and having a degree is better. I know degree-holders who are finding it really hard to find a job. What more for the ones who just took vocational courses right? Well, a few exceptions may be found but only if they have influential backers or really lucky.

Though the idea is realistic with the high cost of college education now, but I think it is still right for our children to choose the degree or education that they wanted to take in college (of course accordingly to what we can only afford). If they wanted to take vocational course then it will be better for us. What we could do instead is to let them know the sacrifices that we do just in order to give them a good education so that they will take their studies seriously.
