When I was young, I felt that my parents seems to favor one of my brothers than the rest of us. When I had a family of my own, I felt the same thing, but as much as I can, I tried not to show it. Do you have a favorite child? do you show it?

Hi, this is a very common problem i think but as much as we want to , at times we are not bale to control ourselves and do show it out too. Yes, my parents too must have had their favourite from amongst my sister and me and this is one quesion that 2-3-4 kids would ask their parents, whom do you like better, or who amongst us, is your favourite. And the parent will either voice it , but that is rare, i think they give a diplomatic answer or such an asnwer that would satisfy both the kids , and i think that is what i used to do with my kids when they used to ask me, when they were small too. For each parent, their kids are valuable i think and each child has their own speciality and capalbility, and actually it depends upn what issue the kids are the favourites. Some child maybe good in studies so parents like thm for that, some would be good in sports so they like them for that, so each one is good, its just that at times we dont realise this and say it out aloud, thus hurting the feelings of the other child, unintentionally. No, i normally dont do that with my kids as my parents were very careful with me too, but i manage to make either one of them happy, by appreciating whatever fields they are good in, so if i praise one of them, i make sure i praise the other one too, so that both are happy, and in between i convey my message to the one i wanted to convey it too.

i am sorry to hear about that, but i think one has to have two or more children to be able to feel and experience of what it is being a parent.

I have felt the same when I was still a young man. But as much as possible I try not to show my disappointment and frustration to my mother and at the same time my envy feeling to my elder brother. But everything was changed when I grew up. Now that I have my own family, I have fully understand her. Our children have their own unique traits and behave differently. You could never fail to give extra attention and favor particularly to those who is affectionate to you and behave according to your wants. But I don't show this to them, I just keep it to myself to avoid any conflict and envy between them.

I don't think most parents have a favorite really. I think you love qualities in each child differently. But sometimes when your children misbehave of course your going to like one child over the other lol, you always like the good one better. But overall, I think we all love our children equally.

my mom's favorite is my brother. she baby him a lot even if he's already 26 years old. he would cry a lot when she knows that my brother is sick. she would cook whatever he wants. my dad is neutral. i only have one child so i give my everything to her.
