Are athletes overpaid?

Maybe I'm griping here. I am going through my own money blues you see. But everytime I come across an article saying that so and so pro baller or pro golfer is paid a gazillion dollars, I just can't help but think life is a bit unfair. I'm trying to be a pro poker player myself (ok poker is not a sport but bear with me) but in my business, we pay a tournament fee that every man or woman, through skill and with a little luck, tries to win. Are these athletes overpaid? While you're at it, what can you say about the Alist actors and celebrity paychecks as well?

While I agree that as professionals they should be paid accordingly to their skills ,I do think they are over paid. I would love to be as skilled in something as they are. I think some of the celebrities tho were in the right place at the right time to get where they are. Or had someone elses name to ride on their way up. I know people who can act and sing just as well and should be up there on the big screen but just dont have or havent had opportunity as yet.
