Ahhh..Black Sabbath, what can i say? I suppose they are one of the best band ever born in this planet.. Sabbath is even considered as on of the pioneers of the heavy metal genre along with Led Zeppilin, etc. Sabbath has their own style of music. At the time when bands were heavily into peace and love, Sabbath set itself apart with their music. Sabbath has four founding members: Ozzy Osbourne(vocals), Tony Iommi(guitars), Geezer Butler(bass), and Bill Ward(drums). There have been personnel changes over the past years but the band still progressed. I think Ozzy Osbourne is the best front man Sabbath has ever had. Ozzy's wild onstage theatrics helped set the stage for today's shock rock artists. We owe Sabbath what we know as heavy metal of today. I'm writing this as a tribute to their contribution to the music industry and for starting the heavy metal genre! Rock On! This is for all the rockers out their who knows and appreciates Black Sabbath...:)

U also forgot to mention Deep Purple were also pioneers of Heavy Metal along with Sabbath and Zep. Sabbath were more Pioneering than the others though.

Black Sabbath seems to change the sound of rock to more metal so they said it. It's because the sound of the guitar is doomy and heavier from the rest of the band back then.

I always prefeired Sabs to Purple or Zeppelin. They were not just metal, take for example "NIB" that sounds like Cream,or the rhytm of harmonica in "THe wizard".Without them, dark metal would never existed, and i'm so proud of seeing them in 98 for "Reunion tour" at gods of metal in Milan (Italy).I will never forget by the time they introduced "Black sabbath" it started to make real thunders.I like all their records with Ozzy and also "Eternal idol" and "Heaven and hell"

I keep reading Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple being credited as forefathers of Metal (sometimes mentioned alongside Black Sabbath, sometimes not), but to me Black Sabbath will always be the main Metal pioneers. Just listen to the opening track from the first album, "Black Sabbath". That doesn't sound like something that influenced metal. That sounds like pure Metal! \m/
