Yahoo Toolbar - Google Toolbar

Does anyone use these?
I had a problem with 'malware' coming up, and was asked if I had Google Toolbar installed.
As I had only just downloaded it, but not installed it, it was unlikely to cause any problems.
Anyone else know anything about them?

I know the few times I have ever used a toolbar, it set my spyware off something terrible. So for that reason I don't use them nor download them any more. I just don't trust them.

I have verizon high speed installed which came with yahoo toolbar, I hate it. I have IE, and I use that most of the time bypassing verizon, but my dad in law, mistakingly downloaded it into IE when setting up verizon, and am a bit afraid to uninstall there, cause pc already has too many problem.
Anyhow, when I go straight thru verizon and use yahoo browser, all kinds of horrible stuff pops up, which I dont see when I just use IE.
Even the customer service guy at verizon said the Y toolbar was really horrible.
