What is the most intelligent or rational thing youve seen any of your cats do?

Most will agree that cats are intelligent creatures, but many say they do not have the ability to rationalize. I beg to differ. One of my cats had a bad habit of using a small lite wieght shelf to climb up onto the higher sink, and then proceed to knock things off the counter trying to get to the window sill. He was around a year old. I MOVED that shelf to the other side of the kitchen, actually about 10 feet away, and left the house shortly after. That cat actually pusshed the shelf back up near the sink and continued to go about his business as if the shelf had never been moved. If a cat can deduce that that shelf was moved, and also deduce that getting it back to where it was would enable him to do what he was used to doing, jumping onto the sink, then I would call that rational thinking, if not down right logical, LOL. What cat stories of amazing intelligence do you folks have about your cats?

My cat is rather intersting. She realizes when doors aren't completely closed and has figured out ways to open those doors. If the door can be pushed open, she'll stand on her hind legs and push the door open. If she has to pull on the door to open it, she'll stick her paws underneath the door and pull on it as best as she can until the door opens wide enough for her to squeeze through. She realizes that if a door is completely shut, that door knobs or handles open the door and she tries but she can't quite get a doorknob turned to open the door, but that doesn't stop her from trying.

My little Kashmere knows when I open the drawer it's time for a brushing and she runs --------------that way, lol!...She's very, very long haired and hates, totally hates to be brushed or combed. Underneath her long hair it's like down on a duck...she gets matted very easily, plus she's chubby (always was, even as a kitty)and it makes her look even bigger with all the hair. Another thing she does is when I'm feeling kind of down in the dumps, she'll roll around all over the floor and turn around and stare at me to see if I'm watching her....she knows this makes me laugh, and when I do start to laugh, she rolls around even more all over the place. She also snuggles with me before bedtime until I'm ready to fall asleep and then she goes off to her own bed. They are much more intelligent than people give them credit for.

There are a lot of people that don't think cats are very smart and can't be trained. I really do disagree. Cats are very smart. Look at how they train us. If they meow near their food dish we feed them and give them water. One person said her cat calls her to play or to give her the chair. When mine thinks that her food dish needs more food. she rams her head into my legs. She doesn't like to see the bottom of the dish. I used to have a glass of water near me all the time and when ever I would wan a drink she had her head in the glass. She now has her own water glass. The opening is large enough for her to get her head into. Now she leaves mine alone. If she accidently ge shut into a room and i find her and let her out she realy tells me oof sveral times during the day.

I wish I had a cool story such as that about my cat! I think the most intelligent thing I can think of that my cat does is know that if he yells at me, I'll get off of my computer and play with him or let him in the chair, whichever it is that he wants at the time. So he'll insistently yell at me until I obey him. Silly cat. I love my cat and I definitely think they're brilliant creatures.
