Last night it was my first time alone all by my self in this house. When I first went to bed I was laying there and listening for every sound outside. I had all my windows locked in the house.LOL Hey I didnt want to take any chances without my hubby. I fell asleep after about an hour. And only woke up once. So after all it wasnt too bad. I think I can say Im starting to feel safe here. So tell me are afraid to sleep all alone in your house?

LOL..Sometimes I do get scared when I am by myself...I live in the middle of nowhere and I lay there with my eyes wide open listening to every little sound of the bush..Its horrible, because I have two dogs to protect me and I should relax a bit..

That is an eerie feeling. About a month ago, I was sleeping on the couch (about 3am), and I heard noise outside my patio door (very close to the couch) that indicated someone was trying to get in. Patio doors are so easy to break into, but as an apartment tenant, I can't help that. Anyway, I wasn't sure if it was a burglar, or some kids out really late behind the apartment complex. But when I saw the handle move, I got up from the couch, slammed my hand on the wall by the patio door, and turned on the light next to the couch. Whoever it was went away, but for three nights after that, I kept the living room lights on. My dogs are really good about hearing commotion, and they are a good indicator if something is wrong. That night they were growling up a storm.

OMG! That is truely scarey. At least you have dogs. Would they attack someone if they broke it?

Those are small dogs. What breed are they? (If any, ) My male cat is nearly as heavy as both together.

Now and then I am afraid when the hubby is gone and my son is fast asleep in his bed. I lock everything and leave a low-lighted lamp on or hallway light just to make me feel better.

Other than napping, I haven't slept in the house alone. I do like the solitude of being in the house alone. There are neighbors around us and I feel comfortable knowing that there are people nearby.

um, i am and the weird thing is, is that since my in laws have been gone, is when i started to be afraid! even tho i know they wouldn't be the ones to protect me it'd be my hubby, i still felt unsafe, i checked all the windows in the house, and i usually didn't do that! maybe b/c i thought if someone were to break in with 5 adults there'd be a greater chance of survival! idk!

I sleep alone every night. And with all the kitties running around, there are ALWAYS strange noises. I bet if anyone ever did break in, I'd just think it was the kitties getting into stuff again. I'h hope that someone would hiss or something to give me an indication if something was amiss. But I have no problem sleeping alone. I baracade myself in the bedroom to keep everyone out. Too many little bodies wanting to play, so I prefer to keep them all out and sleep alone for now.

I think the very first time I was home alone, years and years ago, and my mom and grandmother were away on vacation I was a little nervous...not so much about sleeping --things like noises didn't bother me, but I was jumpy in general. You see my disability (panic disorder with agoraphobia) was a lot worse then, I was very much more housebound...I would do this "what if-ing" thing--like what if I get sick, what if there's some emergency, what if...what if...what if..Honestly, I drove myself batty--and of course all my what if's never happened. With time I just got used to it, and now of course I'm alone all the time, well except for my attack cats..LOL I think your two kitties would be insulted...like "Hey, mom, you got us to protect you." Also just remember..you really aren't alone...we always have our little spiritual guardians around

I am too much, I still can't stay at home the whole night when i am alone and nobody is there with me in the house. I just scare every sound and noise, i can't even go upstair and check for the sound where it came from, i may be wouldn't go for cheking if any security alerm starts in here, I really never have stayed alone, I ask anyone, my friend or any family member to come to my place if i need to stay alone sometime

hi treey, i dont like being alone in home,I think I'll be afraid to sleep all alone in our house. You see, I'm not the brave type ... LOL ... Sometimes, I even keep the lights on in my bedroom. I also do get paranoid sometimes with the noises. I'm just glad we have a dog and I feel safer because of her.

I love being all alone in the house. It doesn't happen all that often so I have to enjoy the time when I get it. The peace and quiet is what I love the most. When the rest of my family is home the place is blaring with radios and tvs.

I used to stay alone. I woke up this morning after the dog called me to get up. I was tired and slept after going downstairs. Later, the dog barked at the big dangerous bug which has many legs bent like a rope next to my blanket on the floor. I was not afraid with that.

I hate staying alone and seem to hear every noise around and then start to imagine things that I would not normally think or worry about . Thank goodness this doesn't happen very often as I have five children and therefore there is usually someone at home but when I do have to be home alone , it takes hours for me to fall asleep .

first i was the same.i was afraid although i was with my daughter.after she got sleep every sound seemed scary to me,i was trying not watching at tv not any scene of horror or so.but after the first time the fear calmed but still locked all the doors and let a light on on the hall so wouldn't be very dark in the bedroom.anyway everytime i want to drink a glass of water i lighted all the lights on the way to the kitchen.it may sound silly but that's how i felt.

My husband is military and aside from being gone a lot he has to work different shifts on occasion. I am not usually afraid to sleep in the house alone but I definitely don't sleep as soundly as I do when he is there! I think I kind of have this "false sense of security" because I live on a military base behind the gates though.
