Is Spain really a first world country_

This discussion is about cultural and ecomonic differences that I feel keeps Spain from being truly considered a first world country/economy. The increasingly high costs of living are not at all compensated by the average salary, with many residents earning around a thousand euros a month in larger cities where the cheapest rents available are around 700 euros before Utilities.

Centuries ago, spain is considered as one of the superpowers. Being one of the first to start exploration of new territories [like the Philippines where I came from] they have the accumulated not only wealth but power. But life is like a wheel... sometimes you are on top and other times you are at the bottom.
