I just saw a commercial for this movie and it looks hysterical. I wonder if Annette Benning could finally win an Oscar? I thought she was robbed when she was nominated for American Beauty. There was one really funny line in the commercial. A man says to Annette Benning in a restaurant that he hasn't had a drink in several years. She looks over at a waiter and deadpans, "Excuse me, could you bring him a medal?"
Has anyone else heard anything about this? What do you think?

I haven't seen the movie yet. I hardly ever make it to the movies, and then on the rare times I do go, I usually end up at a kids movie!
I also very deliberately haven't read the book now that I know there's a movie because I prefer to see the movie first then read the book, if I haven't already read the book by the time the movie comes out. There's so much more detail in the book that I find that reading the book enhances the movie experience after the fact, or something like that!

I found that for this one, knowing the book helped you to make sense of the movie before seeing it. I read it on audio, read by the author. It's a fantastic read.
Without reading it, there are a lot of things you won't understand. Or at least, that's what I thought. I hadn't read it in a long time though when I saw it.

I never see the commercial before but your topic reminds me of a movie called Edwards Scissors hand.

I will watch the movie because I liked the book - but I hear that they really strayed from the book in making this - and I am afraid I am going to be disappointed.

I still haven't read the book or watched the movie, but it might be ok even if they changed a lot from the book. I say this because I just saw The Devil Wears Prada. My husband gave me the DVD for Christmas because I enjoyed that book so much. It was significantly changed from the book and still enjoyable.

I haven't heard of this movie, but I love her. I will have to make a point of going to see this one.
