I started working there last 3 weeks ago and before working we were trained for a 1 week classroom training and another week production floor training and it was really fun specially the classroom trainning and most of my batch mate were really really entertaining i got the chance to meet some people there who just work for experience or doesn't have anything to do at the mean time and most of them were single moms. I found out that some people look at call centers as a last resort just to support their family and i pity some of the other girls were already living a life at a young age which for the time being they should be in college but they never expect things to happen to them would take them this far. We were really taught on how to speak well that even the customer would just buy stuffs from us. I was calling for a dish tv and at the same time i was reffering them to timewarner and horizon but mostly i sold dish tv :) it was really hard since some of the customers would just hung up on you and sometimes are not intrested yet(even if you haven't even said one thing) But it was fun and they really were interesting people that ive met. Since im in the phillipines and living in cavite i think i might have called some of you guys here in mylot :) one of them said im stil busy using the net and i asked if they were visiting mylot :) and what do you know what a coincedence. hehe :) well pretty much it was fun everything was free there but the thing is, i dont see myself as a telemarketer, you do the same thing everyday you say the same spiel for everyday. And pretty much your life is STUCK IN the same thing everyday you won't progress nothing will change in your life and you will miss some points in your life if you continue working in a call center.

Hello ifinallyfoundmybaby, Aha, you did a telemarketing job! I can understand why you stopped working there, just after a few weeks *smiles* I don't like a call center environment especially if it has to do with telemarketing. I am not a marketing or sales person and it is hard to understand why we really need to convince people to buy the products sell by the company that we are working for. I worked for a customer service department of a well known bank here in my company before and though most of the time, I had to answer the calls and inquiries, I still found it a difficult task but quite enjoyable and fun as everyday we need to solve different matters and problems and talk to different kind of people. No matter what, at least you gained some working experience while working there and definitely you know what to expect when you need to find another job in a near future. Good Luck to you!

I was a telemarketer at one time, selling for radio promotions. It was a totally brutal job. I got fired for being unable to meet the quota although I tried as hard s I could to make the sales. I don't ever want to do that line of work again!

Yes i have worked for over two years in a call centre and it really got on me that's why i had to quit. But neverthless it was good fun as long as i was working there. the accent and product trainings were total time pass. The on the floor training was also good. The way customers called and shouted at us and the way we used to mute the calls and give them bad words. All was good fun . But then it can be really saturating too , doing the same thing again n again , hence i left it to oursue my further studies. ~pinks~

I did work for a call center for almost two years and did not find that it was that bad of a job. The call center that I worked for I worked at home and picked my own hours as to when I wanted to work and it was all inbound calls I did not have to call anyone and try to sell something. I could not do that work as I can not sell anything. I did not have a problem with the inbound as people call you because they want to buy what you are selling. I did not have to do the same thing day after day because I could contract with other companies so one day I might be selling flowers and the next day I would be sending a technician out to someones home to fix an appliance. All in all it was not that bad.

I once applied for work in a call centre and lasted a few hours....till my lunch break. I didn't go back. I was selling farm magazines to farmers. No-one answered the phone because they were all outdoors farming I guess DOH! The phone was answered a couple of times by elderly people. I don't know how they work things but if the sellers are paid on commission then I would have been working for nothing. I could spend that time looking for a proper job.

well.. i havent been into telemarketing. but i am in marketing at the moment.its more like a brand promotion via marketing solutions company. so i approach people and try to sale my product in malls or exhibitions.its really hard when people throw attitude. but you get to see a lot of different people.and thats interesting.plus not to mention the social circuit increasing by leaps and bounds

It must have been tough for telemarketers cause rare are the people who would actually pay attention and listen - they can be too rude to handle. I have not tried sales but mine was inbound. It was really stressful and yes, I hated it when people shout at me for no reason at all.

Hello "ifinallyfoundmybaby", I also work in a call center, but it's an in bound call center. We only take in bound calls. We don't sell any products and we also do data processing. I like the job a lot because I feel like I'm actually doint something important. Moreover, I find the job very easy, sometimes it can be stressful but it usually isn't. It's not that I wouldn't say I'm not capable of selling, but I don't think I would like to. Plus, who wants to call strangers and ask them to buy? Probably not too many people, but then again I think I am capable of learning how to (if I needed to). And, one downside to selling is that some people only get paid for the call if you make a sell :(((, that would suck if you made lots of calls and no sells. Pablo
