My gross habit...

I am a picker. It's just one of those things I do with my hands as I sit on the couch watching TV. What do I pick?!?!? I peel skin off of the bottoms of my feet. Usually my heels, but I also attack my big toe where the callus is. I pick and pick and pick until I can pull a strip of skin off. Yes, sometimes I get too deep and it hurts. I also sometimes pick too much and make my feet sore when I have to stand on them the next day. But it's a habit. A lot of times, I don't even realize I'm doing it. And if that weren't gross enough, the carpet in front of the couch is speckled with skin bits when I'm done. Tell me your grossest habit!!

I used to do that a lot when I was younger. But I invested in a pumice stone, and I don't have any skin to pull off anymore! LOL My gross habit is scratching and picking at the scabs on mosquito bites or cuts. I do it all the time, sometimes without even realizing it. Then I wonder why all of a sudden I have blood running down my arm or leg. It creeps my husband out too.

Well, you just mentioned another of my bad habits, since I am a picker. I have also had blood all over me sometimes and not rememeber why. Or on the furniture or something.

I can't do the pumice stone... cuz then I wouldn't have anything to pick at!! It isn't calluses on my heels, just the thick heel skin. On my toe, it's a callus. But I don't have any other calluses. I even went through a phase where I sliced it with a razor! I was careful not to get too deep, cuz I wasn't interested in the pain. I just got a kick out of getting large slivers of skin off of my heels. Sounds gross... but it's a habit.

Strangely enough I do the same with my feet which have psoriasis. As you peel after making it soft with vasaline it comes off as layers of flakes which is very satisfying. And I am very good at hiding all the traces from the eyes of my wife the next morning.

Hmm... interesting. So you rub it down with the vaseline than peel away? When I go at it, it's VERY obvious that I've been at it, so to get nice layers off without making too much of a mess would be nice. What is your reason for doing this? Is it just a picking habit like mine, or nessesary from the psoriasis?

Well, I don't have any flaking of my skin. It's just one place I've found that I can pick and pick without pain or much damage. I guess that's basically it. No where else on my body can I release more picking energy with no ill effects. Nails go too fast, (although they do offer much pleasure), I pick at my split ends, and cuticles, toe nails... so my feets are just another thing to pick at.
